    well i believe shared gear will slowly disappear, it was an armoury system thing... Now that jobs are added, more and more gear is more and more job specific... I think thats the road SE is taking anyway

    I guess its just not a concern for me since i have different set for each class but good luck with that for you if you share all your gear with all classes...

    Well, since gear doesn't count toward inventory space I guess it doesn't matter how many pieces we have. And needing more would stimulate the economy.

    So I'm okay with it... but I'll see.

    EDIT: I'm speaking from my perspective here. I only play primarily 3 classes, WHM, BLM, and WAR, and there's no duplication in the gear that I use.

    However, this would be highly annoying for someone who played 3 DD classes and it could get more annoying for those players as time went on as they would have to change gearsets and macros every time they got a new piece of gear.

    ... It doesn't seem like they're getting rid of the Armoury system, considering that ACN/SMN keeps it.

    The only problem I see with this is stuff like darklight gear being used over multiple jobs, because people realistically aren't going to have more than one piece for certain slots, unless the droprate or method of acquiring gear like this is much easier. People are going to have to pull that gear off, swap jobs, then re-equip it. There also hasn't been any mention of whether unique gear can be incorporated into multiple gear sets, but it wouldn't make much sense if the system couldn't handle that, since technically those items aren't sitting in your main inventory.

    Well, actually, things like DL gear, even thought they can be used in multiple slots aren't usually. Example: When have you seen Darklight Gloves used outside of WHM? It can be used on BRD (if BRD songs are affected by ENH or if the BRD is buffing), but BLM doesn't have any abilities at all where enhancement or Vitality even matters and Convert makes the MP stat useless.

    I voted "I don't like it", and this above quote from the original post pretty much sums up why.

    It's a fantasy game. I get that we're going for "realism" in a lot of ways such as the way monsters and characters look, but the idea that we have to lug around multiple copies of gear for the sake of "realism" doesn't fit since each character we play is the SAME character just with a different job. To me it's the exact opposite of realism to think I'd need four copies of the same ring for two different classes that are still the exact same character with the exact same name. It makes no logical sense to me.

    I understand the technical limitation of this. My understanding right now is that the item is removed from your inventory when you put it in a gearset. if it remained in your inventory I can see this being easier to fix. The easiest thing to do i think is to segregate equipable items into a unique tab. much like crystals are currently.

    but overall, no. I do not think it is a good idea to require multiple pieces of the same gear, especially since it may not be possible to obtain multiple pieces. (IE, I use Lominsan Officer's overcoat on two jobs, and the bracelet on 3)

    Yoshi P explained it as part of his statement that our inventory will be reduced from 200 to 100.

    To offset this, when you place equipment into a gear set it is taken out of your main inventory and not counted towards your 100 item limit.

    But by doing it this way, it means that the actual item is physically moved into that gear set... not just being assigned for use when selecting that gear set.

    They said they're doing this for ease of understanding, but to me it seems to be doing the opposite.

    I frequently use the same equipment across multiple jobs, so this is going to make things pretty frustrating if left as is.

    It would make more sense to me if they just added more inventory space instead of getting rid of it, and instead let you drag and drop gear items out of your inventory to your gear tabs as many times as you like. But I'm assuming they have some reason for making inventory smaller, probably space issues or something.
