Although to be fair every good action or rpg game in existence has jumping mechanics. Games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Demon's Souls and Resident Evil 5 come to mind. You just can't build a good game if there isn't jumping.
Oh hell yes! Now I can clearly show you how irrelevant these games are compared to this thread. Even though there were instances where you would jump a gap in the enviroment, it wasn't really anything at all in the game. Do you seriously think the game would've been less enjoyable if Snake didn't just jump to the next ledge? That Chris Redfield didn't just hop a 1 foot gap between the roofs? Couldn't Chris mostly just climb up/down ladders to achieve the same goal?

Pulling up games that doesn't revolve around jumping to advance in the storyline doesn't help this argument. Maybe you should've said RE4. That had a lot more jumping that actually helped your topic. Hell Marior IS a better case to your argument.....Even though he also needed other perks such as Fire Flower, Racoon Suit, Yellow Cape, etc, etc.... You CAN build a good game without jumping. I think 500,000 FFXI subscribers would agree with me.
