Let me break down why I think jumping is ridiculous.
First of all go through the entire Final Fantasy series. Do you see jumping in any of them? From what I recall no.

We've been fine without the wheel since the dawn of time. Who needs the wheel?

Third of all, jumping does not add anything good to an MMO. Period. Nothing. Nadda. Zippo.

- Evading a special ground-level attack (rolling logs, the sweeping tail of a dragon, a shockwave)
- Imagine a challenging descents down the crater of a volcano. Miss a jump - bye-bye. Or are you scared?
- Jumping out of trapdoors (castle Oztroya)
- (...) <- Space for infinite possibilities.

It makes you look like a bunny rabbit

Why? Did they hire WoWs animation team?

Getting around grid can be a serious pain in the butt sometimes, being able to lower yourself down from certain cliffs would be nice.
