In general, protesting against a feature because of the fear of annoyance from other players isn't a strong argument.

People may occasionally find many things that other people do in an online game annoying, like emote spamming (especially since Final Fantasy XIV has sound clips associated with the emotes), chat spamming and even skill spamming. This is not a good reason to remove emotes, chat, nor skills from the game. Social issues like these are usually dealt with by social means, such as blacklisting of the person/exclusion.

Generally, if you aren't tolerant enough to accept and deal with the possibility of poor behaviour of other people, you should not be playing an online game, as it will likely make you unhappy.
This should end the topic. Why would you turn down a feature? Do you want the stretch emote removed too as it is spammed pretty heavily.

One last point, it's much harder to implement the FFXIII step up feature than just open world jump. Think of just how many scripts would have to be added to the game in La Noscea alone.

Give us jump, but you can hold off on giving it to us until you fire up some more content and fix the battle system.
