It should drain 1/3 of the stamina bar to prevent spamming.
These jumping and climbing threads seem to have affected me... I had a dreaming that I was doing Parkour in XIV last night o_o
SOLUTION
Make it like the 3D Zelda games.
- You jump on a ledge when you run at it at full speed.
- You jump at a high wall when the action button indicates you can jump and hold on to it (same for vines/ladders).
- in other words - functional jump.
I would like to jump over obstacles that should be able to jump over, like 2 feet crevices on the floor - yes. I would like to jump "over" and not go around for malms to do this.![]()
Do it.
If there is to be jumping, I want jumping quests similar to Grand Theft Auto's stunt jumps hidden everywhere.
Like I jump off a small rock and blam... the whole thing falls back to a 3rd person perspective and in slow motion i fall 2 inches.
I really don't think letting people jump is going to hurt the atmosphere of the game. If it is properly implemented, it could only help I think. Having people bunny hop around like retarded kids would suck, but you should be able to jump over small ledges and fall down cliffs(fall damage and death if too high). Having to walk all the way around stuff can get annoying. I know it doesn't seem like such a big issue but all the little things do add up. Maybe they can tie it in with some kind of fatigue system so people are not running around hopping like rabbits.
As I have played FF11 for 6 years and FF14 now since Beta, I find that any form of jumping (even over small or short obstacles) would change the strategies of engaging enemies that the devs (enviromentalists) have built in, (other than what they now allow). I have often had to decide whether or not to engage a mob in a particular area because of the environmental limitaions. (Would I get caught by a low ledge or have to negotiate a fence or stone wall in order to engage or disengage & retreat from an enemy). IMO, If jumping is to be included, it needs to be specically related to accomplishing a quest or done only within an instance. Strategy and tactics are a part of what makes this game fun.
You are writing excacty what form of jumping I not like.I would like jumping. Jumping allows you to develop future quests and dungeons with unique action-oriented mechanisms in mind.
Some of my favorite MMO quests were in the game Asheron's Call 2. They had a quest hub where players could do quests that tested their ability to manuver themselves in the game world. One example was a puzzle quests where players would jump from one low gravity platform to another, being careful to avoid the "bad" platforms where they would fall through the platform and fail the quest. Another great example from the same quest was a quest involving a dungeon run through a dungeon with giant moving objects that players had to jump from object to object, and avoid objects that would push them off of their standing area to their death. It added a great dimension to the game, and I strongly recommend adding jumping.
I like bo be able to play a game in a relaxed way with a gamepad using tactics not manuver skills.
(I'm not against that it should be possible to climb mountins in way that uses the current manuver)

This is my first forum post ever, the reason I decided to post is due to this topic. D:
After the Ul'dah intro, I kinda feel the need of jumping...just being able to jump at all really...
freedom of movement... DENIED! ;_; B-But...I j-just..wanted to lift my feet from the ground..
Even if its not a normal jump feature, I would love to see something similar to the early FF jump features, those where it lets you jump in certain areas when you press a button/key....
Just jump of some kind...for starters... :/
