I would really love to see an idiot go out and try to jump up 4 feet vertical. I would also really love to see someone try and jump up a six foot, 60 degree angle embankment. Oh.......and also you don't jump from a 20 foot hill.....You fall! It's called, "Jumping" because it's describing an action. You don't hear many people saying, "I'm going to fall to my death." Doesn't happen.

I'm done. I can't write this thread anymore. Nobody has a decent idea that doesn't directly fall into the lines of NEEDING to jump. Only thing they need is a Cattle Prod in the back of the neck to induce some Brain Cell activity. Let's face it. You don't jump up a hill. You climb a hill. You don't jump down a ledge. You fall from the ledge.

Have fun with this post. I'm going to talk about more important things that affects this game currently. Not that people, like Gifthorse, (Sorry, dude....I just think you're a few fries short of a happy meal.) care about.....Just as long as he's standing there jumping away as the fan base slowly dwindles away and this game falls flat on it's back. Peace!
Um wow.. that was a snotty ass post if ive ever seen one.

as this is a game where people can shoot magic out of their hands, die.. and be revived.. i don't think your real world bull shit matters. =)

way to totally contradict your self in your own post. Any clue as to where i think you need a cattle prodding? =)

Oh. Here. Let me clarify just one more idiot's post. We don't die, we get knocked out. Revive? I think that's called smelling salts. And magic? Even though it's indirectly related, most people in the middle ages considered black powder to be, "Black Magic" Not to mention the Salem Witch Trials. Hence the term of Magic! Those three things you just posted can be indirectly related to real life.

Got any others, or should I go ahead and get out the cattle prod?

That was some mighty fine reaching you did there son! Grats on being the guy who always has to be right no matter how stupid you make your self look. Most games are based on Mythology and FF is no different. thing is buddy.. mythology isnt real. what do a bunch of scared old retards have to do with shooting magic balls of fire out of your hands?? the next time someone faints in front of me, ill be sure to get out the magical smelling salts that make my hands glow white and raise them...

I think you might have some issues dislodging the cattle prod. It seems to be up there pretty far.

Okay lol I'll try my best to explain this for you Rawry.

First of all, re-read the two bullet points in that quote I made, here they are again for convenience.

    • Being unable to descend ledges where it seems you can easily fall off
    • Feeling of strangeness when you can't climb up a hill that looks to be easily climbable
That falls in line with what they've described as collision detection and should be kept distinct and separate from the jumping discussion. They're pursuing other ways of resolving that.

Also I don't promote jumping in place, I promote incorporating jumping into emotes and actions that make the characters feel a bit more alive. Don't think WoW style jumping where you go for max height. Think more like the Miqo'te /cheer animation where she hops up and down as she cheers. Expand that idea a bit and you have what I mean. It's just another way of the characters feeling alive and expressing themselves but isn't something that's like... maxing out your vertical leap.

It's a bit hard to describe and I'm not advocating it thus why I'm not going out of my way to give specific examples of it. I'm just saying if it's gonna be in I'd like to see it only in that capacity.

No no.. I get what YOU mean. I have no idea what map collision is or what it has to do with me not being able to fall, roll, clime, slide,or dive up/down lil hills. =)

I can't truly explain how they intend to fix it but the point of it was their solution WILL NOT be jumping. Thus why they ask to keep discussions about going up or down small ledges out of the jump discussion. :P

Anyways I might check back in but at this point I think I've said all that I can say about jumping. D:

Here. Let me go ahead and explain this to you as simply as I can so you'll understand!

Map Collision(Also called Collision Detection) is where the UI automatically see's an obstacle(Such as a Fence, Fall, or Hill)
and execute's an automatic response. (Scaling the fence, Slide down to the lower plain, and Leap up the small hill)

    Any questions?

P.S. Way to go, by the way. You were able to lay some sarcasm down on your last thread.....Very humorous. I had to use the restroom before I pissed myself over laughing at your stupidity. Hahahaha!

Edit: Oh. And you can keep the cattle prod. I don't want it back after where you've shoved it.

This Kimahri guy is entertaining. In a dog-that-keeps-running-into-the-glass-door kinda way.

But in all seriousness, just make a scripted hop, leap, or jump at designated locations, such as a small flaw/crack in the ground (like Mor Dhona). Manual jumping is lame, and so is fence-hopping. I liked FF13's jump mechanic, except that the jumps were huge. Tone those down and it works out.

Well I guess you're welcome for the entertainment. I see you basically agree with the same system to be implemented such as I do. Isn't it rather funny that when I was being nice and conservative nobody really cared what others wanted, only themselves, but now that I'm being an ass to certain others, we're finally cutting to the chase? Wow!
