    I know one place in 11 i wished i could jump down and explor, that would be the ruin city in blueblade fell(the one from the opening of the game), ether way if they add or dont add jump to 14 ill still explor it, who knows there could be some areas that youll never know thats there if you cant jump up that little hill.

    If the FF online community is strong like XI then anybody jumping around in game(for no reason) will just be labeled an idiot. Like with XI you actually have a reputation in this game unlike others where you just make multiple alts where only your friends know who you are. Gaining good rep is also another reason not to start a new character besides crafting or item holding.

    though thats also what caused white mages to become pariahs after dropping the ball once and causing a group wipe.

    Final Fantasy is not a Saturday morning cartoon. If there is to be any jumping, it should be contextual, much like it has been in other iterations of the series. We're not all 5-year-olds anymore.

    The use of "extreme jumping" in stuff like Seismic Shock is contextual to the use of that ability, which is used to make the ability seem more grandiose and epic. Anything other than a furry rodent bunny hopping through the La Noscean fields would be beyond illusion-breaking.

    It all comes down to why you want jumping in the first place. To overcome small little ledges? Understandable. Make every ledge up to a certain height(a bit less than knee high) be mapped to have a character step up or scale it. Want to jump around like a Tigger? Go play WoW.

    Plus you can't bounce around like a Tigger, 'cause there's only one.

    This is why I want it. I actually despise bunny hopping. It's a giant pet peeve for me (I've actually gone off on people in WoW for looking like idiots).

    But I'm afraid contextual jumping won't account for all the little things I get hung up on. I'm afraid the only real solution is a free-form jump.

    So, I'm willing to deal with a possible visual annoyance (though I'm hopeful that SE will implement a tasteful jump animation) to get what I feel is a needed functionality.

    I think a jump system that was functional for getting around obstacles would be nice. (How often have you looked at a tiny rock and said, "I'm so tall. How can I not walk over this?")

    But I don't want the dime-a-dozen type of jumps you get in most MMOs. If it worked like the Zelda style, or even FFX-2 (Yes, I played it. So what?), it wouldn't be too bad. But I think I should be able to jump down from some places, or pull my self up to others.

    i dont like it, a lot want it though, they are considering to add it. let them, then we can whine about how its not suitable and all those who asked for a jump button are wow addicts ^^
    the jump feature is interesting idea though.

    Why on earth would you do that? SE barely has the general movement / actions in the game working fine. If you added a jump button, it would be so blocky/unresponsive it would make the game look even worse. Fix the other stuff in the game 100% before you even think about this. I want to be able to sit/stand quickly and without using my menu to stand back up (Seriously, what were they thinking?) and I'd like to be able to sheath/unsheathe weapons without having to completely stop for what feels like an eternity.

    Basic translation:
    What they considered the jump to be was not a dedicated key but some kind of emoticon which could be used to mark an NPC or draw attention in several ways but also could be used to jump over small obstacles (but this not being the main purpose of the action)

    He also says that there was much feedback about it being annoying or not FF-esque and he is surprised to hear that, but will add it to the consideration "ingredients"
