    Cap gil going into 2.0

with the exploit and the MASSIVE gil surge are a result, there should be a cap on gil per account going into 2.0 Yes people are going to get a reduction (9/10s) but there are people that have destroyed server economies with this exploit in their attempts to have the most gil / materials / etc. in 2.0 launch.

With that in mind there should be a limit of say.. 10million per account (100 million currently) that should be allowed to transfer over. This hard cap would bleed out a lot of pointless gil gained from abusers of the Atomos event.

    /facepalm

gil cap of 99mil in 2.0 = gil cap of 999mil in 1.0, no change.

In any case, the atomos event has likely had little effect on the economy except to rob it of all supply since everyone was too busy getting seals to craft or gather. That is why prices are higher, not because ppl have more gil.

And screw over all the people who made their gil legitimately? I'm sure that's going to go over well with them.

and why just stop at reducing the gap between the rich and poor in gil? why not reduce the gap between players who have lots of good gears and who just have normal gear! let's delete all melded gears in 2.0! hell, delete all materias so everyone will have to start fresh on even ground!!

no gap at all rich will still be rich poor will still be poor at 1 digit lower and gear has noting to do with it because melded gear is not the only good gear currently in the game go out and farm dungeons til you are blue in the face and get all teh darklight gear you possibly can unless of course your just not skilled enough to do so...

Perhaps an alternative then? Or does everyone want to see the economy be completely crapped on for the rest of the game life?

Here's the thing. The Markets have long since been shot to hell and back. While the gil generated from the latest fad is substantial. I wonder how it stacks up when compared to over two years of this game hosing players down with gil as reward for doing almost anything.

They have a plan in place already for dealing with the sea of gil that's out there. this new flux of gil will fall to it as well.

Prices will drop as players stop buying. Once the people sees one digit less on their inventories they will start to think things twice. Not so many people will have 6m by then, and in case they have nobody in their right mind will pay 6 future millions for a Vanya Robe. Old players will know that's 60 old millions and simply will not pay that much for it, and new players will have no chance at all of buying that items.
People whose way of earning Gil was through high profit crafting items will just stop putting them at old prices as they see they are not selling a shit.
Not to forget the natural evolucion of prices dropping down as new, and considerably better gear appears.
