And if your money is that tight, you probably shouldn't play a subscription based MMO.

Also, once 1.0 shuts down, only people who were paying customers of the game at the time of shutdown will be able to post.

Buddy pass = same as a regular PC account. Therefore you own a PC copy of the game.
I didn't buy said pc copy i don't have a disc for it I didn't pay for it I've been paying since the beginning of this year. Wth is your major malfunction? Buddy pass does not equate owning a pc copy. I have no discs. I have legacy status. Hell I've been playing since closed beta. You know what just block me I'm blocking you because you obviously lack any type of intelligence what so ever. Goodbye.

It doesn't matter. What part of this don't you understand. If you don't have it installed, just go find an ISO off the internet somewhere.

I didn't pay for it I've been paying since the beginning of this year.
Why would you pay for a game since the beginning for a year if you don't even have it installed? Prior to the legacy announcement, that would have been just throwing money away... Your profile even states that you have a level 50 character. Therfore you've been playing, therefore you own a PC copy.

Buddy pass does not equate owning a pc copy.
Buddy pass DOES equate to owning a PC copy. If you install the game (your friend can loan you his disc, or you can download the installer off the net somewhere), and play your "buddy pass" account, there is absolutely zero difference from if you actually bought the game from a box in the store.

What part of "A buddy pass is literally a full PC account" don't you understand?

And 'what is your major malfunction?" I'm not a robot, thanks.

This conversation is reaching a new level of absurdity....

You know, why don't you go back and re-read your posts, before declaring anyone else has a lack of intelligence. Most of your posts are barely readable in the first place.

I'd say the benefit would be the ability to play FFXIV when your PC was unusable (such as when running a virus scanner or if it needed to be repaired).

That's true, but many of those interruptions can also exist on the PS3 (e.g. being broken, or needing an update)

All I was originally trying to communicate was that you do not need to buy a console version of the game to get "the couch experience," nor do you need it to play with a gamepad or even specifically a PS3 controller.

    True.

I plan on getting both, so that if one system was down during my free time, I could still play FFXIV.

I Agree. I mean when i bought Assassins creed on my PS3 Ubisoft gave me Assassins creed for free on my xbox. Same thing goes for Call of Duty, bayonetta, etc........ Its a sweet deal. Companies should always give you a game of a different format for completely free if you bought it on another format/console.

The problem here is not really about paying for the extra copy, it's the fact that you need to consume that registration code if you want to play your current account on the other platform- You can't just install the game and play your current account, so if you wanted to play 2 characters at once, you couldn't interchangably use both characters on PC and PS3- each character would have to stay on that platform.

I understand but it could be something SE just put in to try to cut down on piracy?

Maybe a simple solution would be that you buy the PS3 version and use the reg. code on your current SE account so you can play on PC and PS3. But than maybe SE could make it so you could buy just reg. codes from them so you wouldn't have to re buy the game if you wanted to make a new account but wanted to play on your PS3.

Although that might be very redundant because that would probably just increase ppl trying to pirate the game so they can just buy the reg. code and not have to spend as much money on the game so forget i said anything XD

    EDIT-------------
O i just thought of something, maybe they make it so you can just buy reg. codes from them, but in order to make a transaction for a reg. code you have to put in your "now useless" reg. code from your ps3 and have it associated with an active account to prove that you really bought it? And if all that checks out they let you just buy a reg. code? idk if this would work lol im just thinking of random solutions

    EDIT AGAIN-----------------
sorry last time i swear i just keep thinking of things that might make this work a little better. When you provide the "useless" reg. code you have to have that reg. code associated with your PC's reg. code showing that you bought both the PC and PS3 version.

In this day and age there may very well be a full download version for the PS3, PSN does support that kind of thing as we saw with DCUO. Problem is if you don't have an upgraded HDD, it takes up a TON of space compared to most any other game. It's a pain clearing all that space considering the PS3 actually has to make more room than it actually needs for downloads for whatever reason.

Well, that might be part of it yes; You still had to buy the PS2 copy of FFXI to play on the PS2- but you didn't need to spend the registration code if you already had an account, meaning you could create a second account if you wanted.
