While it would be nice to get both versions when you buy one of them like Valve did with Portal 2 on PS3 (the PC version did not give you the PS3/360 version though) S-E want to make money like any other company out there. DCUO only allowed you to download the client for free once it became free to play, before that you had to buy either the PS3 or PC version and there you could not play with the same account on both, you have to make two separate accounts.

So while it would be awesome if they gave current players a PSN code to download the PS3 client for free they would lose a ton of money on that and I doubt S-E is willing to lose more than they have already on FFXIV. :P

And who's fault is that but thier own for losing money. They have customers who have been around since the beginning and were under the impression when launched it was a good game and would soon be released on the ps3. I really don't think it would be so much to ask to get a DL code, or have a PS network version that you can download for half cost, I don't know.

It's a subscription game, so they shouldnt be as worried about game copy sales as they should repeat monthly subscribers.. thats where the real bread n butter is

Personally, I played FFXI initially on PC, then much much later on 360. When I got the 360 edition, I swapped between my 360 and PC based entirely on how I felt like playing that day. I remember one day I had off, I'd gotten into a Dunes party that lasted all freaking day, I was just geeking it out on the floor in front of my TV that day, I'll definitely miss it.

Yes, I play the game on my PC with a PS3 dualshock 3 controller. Yes, I could hook it up to my TV. But with my current set up, that's just not practical. Some months my PC isn't even in the same room as the TV. Between that and the PS3 chatpad I bought specifically for FFXIV, it's pretty much a done deal for me.
