They're doing something to the servers?
I'm surprised there aren't more threads about this earth-shattering bit of news...
I think implementing a few Global servers is a terrible idea because everyone is going to gravitate to them on principle alone, leaving the other servers as being a literal waste of money ghost-towns and the "global" servers will be nothing but lag due to the sheer volume of people. IMO you can't have it both ways. It's either gotta be 100% global, or 100% regional. Doing it half and half won't get us anywhere.
Anyone who thinks regional servers will have "super busy prime-times" and NO people on at any other time has either never played another MMORPG or clearly doesn't understand timezones, or that there are more than 10 people who will be playing the game.
People who have played a variety of online games know that your logic doesn't really hold up, or at least they should. Posts like this seem to be based more on fear of the unknown more than anything else. "What's going to happen, oh I don't know, we need to suggest alternatives that won't make us anxious!"
Agreed. Clearly we need more threads! Everyone go, hurry!
No leeching, No PL'ing, just 100% playing the game.
Too many threads aside, I don't think asking for servers labeled for players who want to play with players from multiple regions is asking for much. Just plunk a couple extra servers in the Japan data center, and call 'em Global.

I'd laugh hard if no JP player would join these (or a very small amount of JP players, who would eventually move). And that's most likely what would happen. Go check JP forum and tell us if JP players are sad not to be able to play with NA/EU players.
Antipika.

aye, I seriously doubt most JP are unhappy about it, in fact I'd be suprised if there isn't a celebration thread for it.I'd laugh hard if no JP player would join these (or a very small amount of JP players, who would eventually move). And that's most likely what would happen. Go check JP forum and tell us if JP players are sad not to be able to play with NA/EU players.
Sadly i have to quote this too. I really doubt that JP ppl are sad about "leaving" most of NA/EU player... And at the same time i really doubt that they're are doing all this crying about "i can't play with my NA/EU friend anymore" like us on english forum.![]()
Putting a global label on the server won't guarantee that it will be filled with jp and en people 24/7. It is just a lablel and won't help at all. If you want to be on a server with en and jp people then make the game a prison and lock everyone into the same server with no choices in life.
so you're okay then with completely alienating the hardcore playerbase and essentially telling them if they want truly challenging pve they should just get it from another game? While some with lower lag may decry this as "dumbing down" or being too easy for them, consider that you are *NOT* making a Tournament Level Fighting Game.
It's not going to be game-breaking if you added an additional 0.15 seconds to a window (to run away), to help compensate for Worldwide Players (those farthest from you).
And in addition, I would hope for an *RPG* that you'd be providing us with challenges that *aren't* just Reaction Time-based. It's not like you're trying to balancing a ridiculous 1-Frame window for Ryu to land his Crouching Strong Punch -> Low Roundhouse Kick. It's not a Fighting Game.
[COLOR=blue][B]I would hope we see more interesting RPG challenges, and things based on countering Elements (like Princess Pudding, Fire vs. Wind, Lighting vs. Earth, etc.), or more interesting puzzles and encounters and fights that *aren't* just based on Twitch Reaction and Flinching.
