This was totally the main issue. Seals isn't a big deal, but when people are actually generating 4.2 million geal every 5 or so hours, the economy is bound to suffer.
Cat's out of the bag now...now everyone is gonna know. Thanks guys. ._.

According to some players the economy will be just fine because it's already fucked up and since the game is going offline in a 1 1/2 months SE shouldn't have bothered.
:3
You don't see the slippery slope this causes? They reduced item vendor prices twice since 2010, any more there's no point in ever vendoring skill up items that doesn't sell on wards or random junk you get. Some people can make the potions you get as drops for example, melee rarely need ethers if at all ever, so they just vendor it for a quick buck, reduce that you're not doing much.
You nip the source.
This would have been the easier(easiest*) solution.
I suppose that is subjective, but I'm poor and 10% of my gil isn't that much, so it will always be a commodity for me >_>According to some players the economy will be just fine because it's already fucked up and since the game is going offline in a 1 1/2 months SE shouldn't have bothered.
Presumably they'll be able to handle these 'exploits' because they'll have a public test realm.
These exploits are more just balance problems that cannot be fixed with just internal QA.
Unless they temporarily reduced the price during the event. This way people couldn't exploit it. And the max you could get out of it is the 50k seals. Could also create an incentive not to spend the 50k cap on these by telling people there will be a new GC company rank a week after the event ends which costs 50k.You don't see the slippery slope this causes?
