Economy in ARR will not be the same due to the 90% gil loss

I had to bring this up. Odds are that our gil will lose some of its buying value.

Everyone's gil is getting cut by 90% and thus everything on the market wards will have to be adjusted. Because we are getting all new servers and all I am sure the price history and everything will be wiped. This adjustment will not take place all at once and may never get to 1/10 of the 1.0 price.

The thing is the market wards are player driven. May or may not balance out at 1/10 of their price especially cheaper items. Most level 50 starter gear goes for like maybe 50k or so, example being Colbalt Head for example sells for 60k. Think about it are people going to price those at 6k now. Unlikely, maybe 20k or 30k seems more reasonable, and some people will buy it because yea they got 30k. In 1.0 terms we just spent 300k on an item that use to go for 60k.

I can see why they are lowing everyone's gil to make it easier on new players, but the player driven economy will mean market ward items may not get adjusted all the way down to 1/10 of their 1.0 value, maybe a lot of things will go for 1/5 or maybe 1/3 of what they use to cost.

TL'DR: Because the prices of items are being wiped and players will come up with no prices odds are they won't go as low as 1/10 and thus we lose purchasing power with our gil we made in 1.0.

Make of it what you will- but seeing yet another thread being made on this after it's already beaten to death, you have to wonder what the OP's intentions are. He says "I had to bring this up" even though it's already been brought up multiple times.

It doesn't take a genious to see that due to random factors and market forces there won't be a 100% exact translation of your buying power. Some prices will rise, some prices will fall, so buying power can change. But these changes occur independently of redenomination and would happen whether or not the gil change happens.

Buying power could go down slightly, or it could even go up slightly. The point is, it's not going to be a dramatic effect.

Even if people buy them initially at 20-30k like you say, the fact that people are also going to be earning gil at 1/10th the current rate will make it so that they cannot replenish their gil stocks as easily. Which means eventually the 20-30k prices will be unsustainable. May not happen Day 1 or the first week, but in a month or so, everything will be adjusted.

Something ppl seem to be forgetting: The game will be offline for X amount of time. Servers will be split up (well, sort of. However you want to view it). Communities will change, a massive influx of new players, and your gil will be down, etc etc etc...

It should be fine. It really would be a relatively clean slate. Those items selling for $1m won't be able to remain $1m because only people who had $10m now could afford it. And so on, and so on. Those $25m triple meld items are not going to continue to sell for that.

Prices will be down. Maybe not 90% ... but significantly. The game being offline and having everything taken out of the wards and AH, and having price histories reset, will help people forget what items cost in 1.0 and let them start over in 2.0 with the new perceived value.

Something like this most likely will happen, odds are we lose out because of it.

But everyone loses out equally, so in effect nobody really loses out at all. This change is going to happen, a couple people are going to be bitter and grumpy about it, and within a few weeks of the launch nobody will give a care anymore.

I thought the same but I have calmed down a bit, it will take time that's for sure but it will come down eventually, we just have to sit on our money and wait until prices become reasonable.
