We are expecting DCUO Server Architecture.. but meh you might not understood it :|seriously what did people expect? it's not like data centers can be linked by quantum entanglement, "yet". If you want to get rid of lag this is only way. if later they are able to get very low latency and high data rate between the data centers cheap enough, then when one world model comes into being it will come without lag increases. They said they are working towards that, but it will mean extra couple hundred of ms to coordinate parties if not on same data center with current technology.
If you have secret to faster than light communication between any two points on earth feel free to give SE the info, so they can setup the servers how you want, while making more than any small country on the side in licensing profits.

Now we can only hope they allow for fast server transfers or some such
I'm currently accepting written apologies from all of the people who told me I was wrong.

On the bright side... even in a different region lag should be more bearable than it is at the moment. If I can dodge now, I'm hoping I'll be able to in 2.0.
please don't do this...

We thought it would be like this one..

I'm disappointed by this as well. For me, the non-regional servers is one of my biggest draws to SE MMO's. I made friends from all around the world through FFXI (to the point that we all gather for vacation every few years even after we all quit playing XI years ago) and I'd never have met them with regional servers.
I'm not sure what, if anything, they can do to change this decision at this point, but I'm not happy about it. I think its going to seriously impact the community dynamic and I don't think it will be for the better. One of the best parts of this game is that my close group of friends, my small linkshell, has people from literally all over the world. We may all choose to stay on the same server, but what about the new players for ARR? They probably won't get the same experiences to meet people from different countries and cultures because they'll pick their own regional server.
It might be good for latancy, but I don't think its good for the community.![]()

Yup. I'm still not happy about it, especially because they could've at least tried ARR with global servers and THEN moved on if lag was still an issue (which I bet it won't be because the large majority of the old latency problems were due to the client being poor).
