This will never happen, doesnt matters if global/regional or what ever. But stuff like this happens less if ppl are able to talk with each other and I think thats what he wanted to point at.
I know its possible to communicate with foreigners (I have been many years in a JP linkshell in XI) too, buts it makes things alot easier.
I hope they designate an "international server"
and that it doesn't reside in japan
There's pro's and con's against Regional servers, i'll point out some for you about what you just said:
1) There will be no JP partys, yes, that means no "foreign language chats" but i'm sure if you joined a JP Party its because you were probably online at the JP prime time, so get ready to wait hours looking for party @ awkward times, because the people in your server are NA only which means the servers will be deadish during night time. As for myself, i wont join a EU server because i mostly play during night for now, if my play-time changes, i think it will be sad because i wont have many people on at my day-time range online if i join a NA server. People are just being abit selfish when telling others their points doesnt make sense and Regional servers is the way to go.
2) Because your on an NA only server you'll understand what everyone says, but that wont save you from wipes. I wiped alot of times heading to Natalan just because people (who spoke english) didnt either want to work much because they were mostly leeching at some point or because they were watching TV and playing at same time. Untill ppl get to wolfs camp or the party camp, stuff can go complicated.
3) Even on an NA server only, dont expect to be treated with respect. There are alot of people out there who doesnt respect others, and to be honest, JP's been respecting me way more than NA's and i dont know stuff about JP at all. Camping stuff/ NM wise, JP's do help each-others while alot of the NA's i mostly meet just want their stuff done and dont care about the rest.
4) With regional servers, the community will be probably mostly Regional~wise (NA's will be mostly Americans, EU's will be mostly Europeans (with over 16 diferent languages, which will be really tough to understand, which why i wont join one even being EU) JP's will be mostly Japaneses) with this, certain people that cant play for long or can only play during night-time when most NA's are asleep, there wont be any EU's which some do speak english pretty good to help with any kind of events, so if ur a awkward-time player expect to take a long time finding a group or not getting some stuff done because there wont be many ppl online to help.
5) About "in short the current system sucks this is not an ideal world where everyone treats everyone else with respect I want a NA server, so I don't have to deal with parties like this again." Which i already mentioned above but wanted to clarify, NA server wont be a FFXIV paradise world where everyone treats everyone with respect, have manners, are always going to help because ur an American citizen, No. Dont expect any of this stuff because there are dumb people everywhere which will always disrespect others and dont care anything about what u need or what's ur situation.
My reply for regional ONLY servers is no, as i stated it awhile ago in this thread, altho i'm sure it wont be ONLY servers so i'll just join either a NA server or if there are world-wide servers, i'll join a world-wide server. I dont want to learn all the European Languages to be able to actually understand some people who can barely read game-content and skip story-lines because of their lack of english knowledge and i dont think i want to have google translator open either to be able to talk with them. So EU servers will probably be full of fail, as i seen on some Aion stuff i did with people that didnt knew any english at all. It will be worst than ur Natalan party tbh.
About some advice to your current gil - You get 8 leve-quests daily, which if you do them at a high lvl camp, you'll get about 3-7k Gil as reward. If u do 8 a day you can easily get around 40k-50k a day. You can also farm materials and sell, all those stuffs. I dont think i was so low on gil as a CNJ46, even tho it was my first job to lvl to 50 back in August 2012. If you're out of gil because u spent in something you rly wanted, then start to save some gil to repair your stuff.
About SE being GOD, it is the XIV's God, they do what they want whenever they want. They totally remade the system without asking you if you wanted to, for example, get rid of arrows or not having bait as a fisherman or not getting TP by hitting mobs. You're the one who should shut up because this is a free-to-post thread where people can point what they think about this and what they think its wrong.
Where to start here are some points for starters
I don't play a MMO to do solo leve quests all day long
I wouldn't be so broke if all you 50s hadn't jacked up the prices in the market wards when I was lvl 10 I wanted a new weapon 15k for a lvl 7 weapon
Se was told by me and many others (many who left the game and may not return), what was wrong with it, it was broken in beta (we told em), it was broken when released (we told em). Th only reason they are fixing the game is low subscriber base (ie $$$$$$).
People on this thread keep moaning about regional servers. Why? If you have friends online, get organized and join the same server, does it really matter where it is located. I, and many others shouldn't have to suffer because the fanbois like the current system.
I stated Tera on a EU server. I didn't have any issues.
As I tried to point out, I'm not opposed to people talking in their native language in party, but when 90% of the party chat is foreign to me, and when 80% of the party never use the built in translator, I see a problem.
On a NA server there will be people who I will not get along with. But, at least I'll know if what they are saying to me is an insult or not, at least I'll know if their silence isn't due to a language barrier. And, I won't have to fumble with a auto translate dictionary.
There won't be a big difference if you play on a NA or EU Server, almost everyone will talk english, cause its the language most ppl can use to communicate even if its not their native language.
Only difference between NA and EU Server gonna be the primetime.
Not entirely. I've played Aion for awhile and there were many kinds of situations i faced:
1) There were guilds mostly language~wise, I'm portuguese and i knew only 1 group of portuguese people around all Aion. So i expect the same, as always ends up happening, to happel (Sounds abit of racism to me, because people want to stick to language groups instead of mixed groups, but that's just for me).
2) In alot of situations, i ended up on quests and raids, where people could barely speak english, it was obvious they were using google translate DURING A RAID (Seriously doesnt work at all during a raid -.-) and we ended up wiping alot of times, so pick-ups will rock even more than they do in a global server (/sigh).
3) Continuing 2nd point, but explaining in another way, even people's shouts doesnt make sense, Ventrilo doesnt either, people shout in foreign languages without any auto-translation possible for most languages EU has (Only German, English and French are covered), in party chat when multiple people from the same language (sometimes there's ppl that can speak english barely enough to explain what's going on, but we'll feel like "wtf are they typing?" just like u prob are when reading Japanese) but mostly, the worst is that they wont understand the criticism upon a failure boss, so they can fix their work; Also the strategy, so they can know their role while fighting a boss or doing a mission or w/e; Tbh there will be alot of issues due to the poor english majority speak, they count on a friend to translate what english ppl say, and their friend could not always be on at the same time as them, and google friend doesnt make sense all the time.
I could think and point numerous bad points of joining an EU server but i'm done here because i dont wanna recall the shiz times i had while playing Aion and having so many issues like i had, but also since i wont join an EU server too. NA Server is the way to go if you actually speak english well enough to express what you really wanna say in english and want all other people to understand what you actually mean. I dont care about lag or latency, it will just be abit problematic in afew missions more than it will be for NA players that are in NA, but they said it wont matter that much, so i hope and expect it will be fine. If its a problem and i cant play properly i'll just quit and move on.
I am happy and kinda frowning at this. I am not sure I am frowning at the community or just the stupidity of.
It seems majority of you wonderful /english/ speaking, fellow Americans (and those who are not, forgive me for lumping you in with us), is that we have the CHOICE. I get VERY little lag even now, and right now the servers are in Japan. Maybe this has to do with the fact I am in Arizona, so I am rather close to the ocean that separates Japan and my state.
But I don't get it.
They are giving a choice. A simple choice. They are NOT forcing you, like some MMORPGs do, and yes a ton of a MMOs FORCE you to be on whatever server is in your area. These guys are not.
So really, what is the big deal? They are trying to satisfy everyone here with the best possible means they can and really, the best means is what they are doing. Deal and stop crying over it, because this is the making of some players complaining about dealing with "Non-speaking" players, AT LEAST we are not being forced.
Mhm i spent many years playing XI, and I'm from Austria (so i speak German) but i always prefered mixed LSs and even JP LSs (my HNM shell was JP). I don't really know alot ppl from Europe that can't speak english. Maybe few of the older ones but everyone learns english at school so they should be able to communicate enough for some gameplay.
On EU Server it won't be much different to an global server, english gonna be the language that everyone gonna use if you arent in a group where everyone speaks a certain language.
The language Problem actually should only exist with Japanese but not with english, if you have that much ppl that can't speak at least a bit it would be very sad....
