I hope Abriael isn't a common example of Gungnir's playerbase. If so, I'll be sure to avoid that server.

So pick a data center that works for the time when YOU can play. Pretty simple.

You heard it here first folks. The game has very good netcode!Yet no one has lag problems. Why? Because the game has very good netcode.
those 1-second-plus delays between input and action have nothing to do with how the server processes anything! Nobody has lag problems!
Really... do you play this game? Why do you think they're rebuilding the server systems from the ground up? Because they're very badly designed and cause longer response times than there should be.
Very few if any of the people desiring regional servers are "racist." Most of them simply prefer playing with people they can communicate most effectively with during the times they play most. It's not because they hate anyone that isn't their culture. Just because I'd prefer to play on a server where most everyone speaks English and where I get the lowest latency doesn't mean that I hate people from Japan, France or Germany. In fact, I have aquaintances from all of those countries. There's no other benefit to regional servers, unless you count appeasing the racists that can't bear contact with cultures different than theirs. And that's hardly a valid benefit, as those people shouldn't even be allowed to play online.

This is the jump issue all over again. People stomped their feet about that one too and tried to claim that people who wanted jump were a minority compaired to them. I don't think we need to name names. We know who I'm talking about.
They were wrong there and they are wrong here too. And just like jump, XIV will have regional servers. And those posters will be quoted for posterity for acting like fools about such a silly silly thing.
So I truly think this thread has run its course. There is nothing more to be said on either side. No more new or discussion provoking points to be made.
Whether people like it or not, Regional servers are coming.
Sorry for the emotional inconvenience.

I really want to play on a regional server, since there will be 2x the amount of players I can talk and group with.
I can only speak for my experience but JP players for the most part seem to have no interest in grouping, partying or interacting with me once they know I speak English.

Not only are you the voice of reason here, but you're the voice of "Why SE needs to shut this blasted thread down". Beating a dead horse is getting people no where, other than throwing insults around wildly. This is the jump issue all over again. No leeching, No PL'ing, just 100% playing the game.

AU Primetime=JP Primetime
I have to use Google Translate during this time as there is next to no in-game translation being offered.
I'm sorry to acknowledge this but playing with US players is still as bad as it ever was with the original server idea, it will still mean that as I am ready to start removing some party-required quests from my Journal, people start feeling tired and sleepy and last one or two rounds (I still have United We Stand pending <.<) then I have no choice but to log on at my (now) usual playtime of AU primetime (7pm-12pm) and Google Translate gets fired up again, never ever ever ever get a response anymore from JP players.................
So it seems to me SE's answer for me is to only play between 2am-6am or join a NA server with mostly US players and get much more latency than already getting.................
Any other ways of alienating non-JP/US players?

In today's news, several million brain cells are dead and many more are missing as the Final Fantasy XIV forums encounters the fiercest shitstorm since Grassgate '12.

Aren't they going to have the option to do instanced parties with players in all serers anyway? As in you can still play with people from other regions, and even other servers? I recall reading that in the original developer notes. Any word on that?
