People with a lot of gil will be at a small advantage. We'll be pricing our stuff in V2 at 1/10 and selling by the bucket load while people who didn't understand the change will be sitting there with their stuff not selling and complaining about "undercutters".

Its all psychological. The literal advantage is not there, and people will be forced to accept that and adapt, or stagnate their profit margin.

My point is the advantage will exist for the short term. If people are trying to sell things at v1 prices that's less people in my market and more sales for me. Of course they will eventually adapt but to begin with I have a small advantage over people who don't understand economics. By trying to sell things at old prices they will be effectively lowering supply since they remain unsold, so I might even be able to get 11-15% for my items.

You can imagine the ideas that must get thrown about at SE's development sessions:

make v1 gil only usable for transactions in market wards
make v2 gil usable in auction house
make all gil Dated and Untradeable XD

If they implement a tier system (or simply anything that pushes a new echelon of higher end gear out every few patches), then most of these economic concerns will be nil.

The bleeding edge will always be the most expensive, and more than likely priced to 2-3 times it's worth (think of any tier IV materia used for relics). As new content and gear comes out, those old high sellers will depreciate in price, eventually making them available to the public at a reasonable rate.

This is assuming they follow a logical gear progression system. In FFXI (and we see hints of it in FFXIV), certain items were ALWAYS considered useful (Haubergeons, elemental staves, Scorpion Harnesses). In times of high inflation, these become out of the reach of new players. The only time prices go down is in the release of new content, or when a large amount of money leaves the system (SE deletes massive amounts of RMT gil). Some of the old time FFXI'ers may remember at the peak of inflation how prices were (5-10 million gil for NQ scorpion harnesses), and how low prices dropped (after the mass bannings and removal of gil, SH's were back down to 200-300k). A static system like FFXI's is very susceptible to inflation, whereas systems like WoW are much more stable. It's guaranteed that any power item, no matter what it's value (aside from collectible and fringe items, those may always be expensive), will eventually depreciate in time with new content and options.

Sorry i have never posted on here before so if i do this wrong please forgive me.

I would just like to say that I do not agree with this idea to reduce everyones gil to 1/10th of its current amount, I work extremely hard for my gil and I have never been the most succesful at making money in these mmo games. The way I see this is that I have worked tirelessly trying to save up for when 2.0 came out so that for once I could be succeful (money-wise) only to learn that the game is gonna take all that away, say what you will about "if everyone loses the same % no-one really loses anything" I don't buy it, people who struggled to make gil now will struggle even worse in 2.0 now. you people all talk bout these folk with millions of gil, wut about the guys that only have say 1 million, now they only got 100k which if is anything like it was in XI 100k will buy nothing.

I understand that the market is inflated and they wanna help the new folk have a more equal playing field but if im gonna have my money cut by 90% i otta get something for it, I pay real life money for this game and all the time i have invested to make the gil I have now feels like a complete and utter waste. I have never had a game take something away from me that I worked hard to get like this game is proposing to do. Which is why I propose this, if you are gonna take our gil atleast let us do it ourselves, in that SE makes a list of U/U items that can only be purchased by people who are currently playing the game, it would cost 90% of the gil you have, and it would be a 1 time thing so you could only get 1 item. to me this would be fair, atleast I get something out of all the gill you propose to steal from me. I'm sure they wouldnt do this obviously, but if you are gonna screw over the loyal people who have been playing your game and paying you for it when everyone else wouldnt even give your game a second glance, you outta atleast give em something in return.

again sorry if I posted wrong or anything, and I admit now that i am no grammer expert so please excuse and spelling errors that you may find.

Everyone's gil is being reduced to 1/10th its value, the rewards/costs from quests, npcs, and monsters are also being reduced by this value.

The number may look smaller but its the same % of money you have now and after.

I would suggest reading the entire thread before freaking out.

Your 100k in ARR is going to have the exact same value as your 1 million from 1.0.

Its more the time i have wasted that I am concerned about rather then the gil, I was not refering that I only had 1 million gil, but I had alot of newer players in our ls that tried and struggled with gil and they will only struggle worse come 2.0.

Maybe you guys cannot relate to how things were in XI for new players trying to break into a market that was hard to earn gil if you were a low lvl, but what I see happening here shows me that SE wants to go back in that direction where its an elitist world out there, the rich succeed and the poor suffer. Time is the most valuable thing in life, with them taking 90% of gil away from ppl has taken away peoples time spent making that gil, can you really tell me it will be the same having made 20 million as it will to make 2 million, chances are if it had been the new system from the start things that sell for 5k now would still sell for 5k in the new system cause usually when changes like this happen its the high end expensive items that really change the low end stuff doesnt shift nearly as much so in truth, they are stealing my time, and I truly dont understand how they can justify doing this to players who have been supporting them.

I know ffxiv players dont seem to like newer players that come into the game, but I have always tried to help newer players on my server, and its these people who wil have the most adverse effect from this, I cant even tell you how many people I met in XI who ended up quiting cause they couldnt do anything cause it was so hard to make gil they couldnt get their equipment they needed and thus couldnt get parties.

Sorry if you dont agree with me but I can almost guarantee that if any of you have a newer player in your ls or one that you know, they will struggle come 2.0 cause of these changes.

perhaps yous guys dont agree that you should get something for the gil your gonna lose cause in your eyes you arent losing that gil because everything is going down, but i know for a fact that i have lost time because of these changes.

The redomination has nothing to do with new players truggling to make gil.

Many of us build our small fortunes when we were spamming guildleves and their gil rewards were extremely high, and through different updates (and now Atomos).

Anyone that starts a game late will have currency problems if they don't make any efforts.
