But the poor!!! Rawble rawble rawble redistribution! rawble rawble rawble free health care rawble rawble DEY TUK MAH JURB!This is the problem with redenomination - the psychological impact.
You are not losing ANYTHING. Think of it this way;
NOW: you have 10,000gil and a Gysahl green costs 2,500g from the escort NPC
That is 10k/2.5k = 4 .. That is 25% of your gil.
In 2.0 EVERYTHING is getting the reduction meaning that:
You will have 1000gil and a Gysahl green will cost no more then 250g from the NPC
1000g/250g = 4 ... which is 25% of your gil.
25% = 25%
We lose nothing.
This is why I stay out of the forums. I love getting flamed for things I wasn't even concerned about nor did I mention anything about.
NPC costs scaling down is all well and good, and thank you SE for that. But um...you really think people are going to be as understanding in the market wards? If anything, most things in there will go UP in price. Some things will go down, because they're already higher than anyone will have starting off 2.0 (lol), but things are already so ridiculous in the wards...I honestly don't see that changing, and that's the real problem and the reason scaling everything down isn't really a logical option, in my honest opinion.This is the problem with redenomination - the psychological impact.

What analyst advised you on this? This will never work. You can't take 1/10th of everyone’s gil and actually think that it will fix the economy. Who buys from NPC's? No one! Who cares if you drop the NPC cost buy 1/10th? Unless you increase the drop rate of HQ items and make it easier to meld items; then the value of what is being sold in the wards will not drop. If something is being sold for 20mil in the wards now; then rest assure that it will be 20mil in 2.0. All this approach does it keep the rich rich and the poor get poorer. So save up everyone!
maybe, while the other crafter will take this opportunity to make that 20 mill items and put it in as 2m and it will sell like hotcakes...while the 20 mil item.....What analyst advised you on this? way to not answer the question, be a good dupe now and post again without answering the question

Answer.
Go on and be a good dupe and keep writing crap.
Yoshida has explained (once translated) to everyone exactly what is happening. No one has lost anything, though they should be careful what they invest in into 2.0 as item values will be changing (gil will not be).

They are doing it because it's an opportune moment to bring the currency down to a more palatable number. Does it need to be done? not really. But they've decided to do it and the sooner people recognize that it's not going to change anything the sooner they can get back to complaining about grass and character animations.

What question? Why are we doing it? Read the original post, if it's not common sense... so we wont be dealing with such ridiculous big numbers. We're at the point of those countries that have to pay a million of the local currency for a coffe. They tend to do a redenomination when that happen too.
