    They are putting servers in different regions so you can choose to be on a server that is physically close to you in order to reduce lag.

    But they are not separating by language nor placing region access restrictions on them, so if you are in NA you can still choose to play on a server in Japan and vice versa.

    These are data servers, as in you won't get much of a delay/lag by choosing a data server closest to you. You'll still be able to play with people from around the world, don't worry.

    Correct. They are still global servers, just that they are physically spread out around the world (not just in Japan).
