Comfortably Running the Game on a Laptop (SPEC Survey)

I have a friend who is interested in starting in 2.0, and she is planning to upgrade her laptop to accommodate the game. Obviously there are no specs for 2.0 out right now, but I'm curious what people's experiences have been with running 1.0 on a laptop, because anything that can run the current version should be able to run 2.0 comfortably.

Basically I'd love for anyone using a laptop to complete the following survey if you have the time. Thanks!
    • I have a MANUFACTURER PRODUCTLINE MODEL NO.#
    • It has such and such GPU, CPU and RAM
    • I run the game at such and such settings
    • It runs comfortably at such and such fps
    • It cost about such and such dollars in (the year) 20XX

Whoops, no more like "What it cost and the year you bought it" :P to account for depreciation of parts value. Definitely looking to go on the cheap side. My RMBP runs FFXIV fine, but not aiming to spend $2000.

If it runs 1.0 it will run 2.0 better
So maybe the same thing? :-)

I have been gaming on this laptop for a few years and it has not failed me yet. It has been stolen, banged around, somehow found back to me at a pawn shop. Had malt beverage poured all over the keyboard and into the main circuitry I would guess, the screen fried out from that incident. So now it runs with hdmi to a monitor.

    HP pavillion dv7-1279wm
    ProcessorIntel Core 2 Duo T6400 / 2.0 GHz ( Dual-Core )
    Memory4.0 GB / 8.0 GB (max)
    Hard Drive500.0 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 5400.0 rpm
Operating SystemMicrosoft Windows Vista Home Premium
Display Type17.0 in TFT active matrix
    Max Resolution1440 x 900 ( WXGA+ )
    Graphics ProcessorNVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT

I bought this brand new in feb. 2009 for 900 dollars. It can run settings on high for everything but I don't reccomend it. Will probably stress the heck out of it and give poor perf. It starts overheating quickly if you are trying to run something like this, EvE, or... WoW... on the highest possible setting for graphics and stuff. But if you go with the standard settings for everything it runs smoothly. I'm sure you could find one for about 350-400 bucks or so by now. Hope this gives you a general idea of what could run it with no problems.

If it has a video card up to snuff, the rest of the specs surely haven't been skimped on. My girlfriends laptop has a half-ass video card and I still run the game fairly well. It has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6370, that plays pretty well at 1600x900. It's an HP pavilion dv7. Also i5 m460, 6gb ram, and probably 500gb hdd. She paid a sum for it, but craigslist has htem cheap.

But I was asking for feedback on people's experiences with running 1.0 on a laptop? (Read the OP)

Thanks everyone for some great responses, gives me a general benchmark to look for!

    I have an Asus K53TA.

It comes with the AMD A4-3400M processor which is a quad-core 1.3 Ghz with turbo up to 2.4 Ghz. The GPU is an AMD Mobility Radeon 6520g w/1gb ram, which can pair up with the onboard graphics using AMD Crossfire to form a more powerful 6720g2. The stock notebook came with 4gb ram, but I have mine upgraded to 8gb.

I run the game with everything on High, but I have AA, Ambient Occlusion, and Depth of Field turned off. I also have shadows set to Lowest. It should be able to run at a higher level when ARR hits, though.

I don't really know the FPS, but I'm guessing its within the 30 fps range. I have the frame limit set to 30fps. The game runs smoothly, save for Uldah, when I"m around a lot of people.

The best part about it is I bought it for less than $500 from Newegg. Asus doesn't really make them anymore, so if you're hoping to get one, it'll have to be used from Newegg, eBay or some other website that you trust. There may be some new ones still around. I think it was released last year. I'm not sure, but I bought mine this year.

If you can find one, I'd definitely recommend it. It's a great budget gaming laptop.

I'm running with a MSi FX620DX, which has the Nvidia GT540m, i5-2410M CPU, 6GB RAM, on pretty standard settings. It runs fairly well with General Draw Quality on 8 and Background Draw Quality set to 4, 4x MSAA, and standard shadow detail. I haven't tried increasing it, not sure how it would handle. AO's turned off, but DoF is enabled.

I'm getting around 30FPS with this thing, so it's alright. It does dip for a few seconds in the more busy areas as it tries to load all the player characters. Oh, you can also configure this laptop with full HD resolution (mine's standard 1366x768). I bought this about a year ago for only $800, so I'm sure you can find one for cheaper, or better specs for the same price

It also runs Skyrim and Battlefield 3 on med to high settings.
