Thread: 1.0 CE letdown

In reality I think SE should release a CE for ARR. it is a relaunch so why not a new CE?

I'd probably buy it again for w/e goodies come in the box. buy anyone who purchased a 1.0 CE should get w/e ingame items the new CE gets. unfortunately the ingame CE items came with a separate registration, so there's no real way to tell. maybe offer a ticket to buy a digital collectors edition for a discount when you send out the new software for ARR for all of us who already have the game.

I'm not sure how they set it up internally but it's possible they know which registration codes went out with CEs if that's the case it should be relatively easy to credit accounts.

If not, oh well. if there is a CE for ARR i'll probably pick it up anyway.

and for the love of all that is good in the world can we PLEASE get digital copies we can link to our online SE account? the original discs were not durable and had so many defects it was laughable. I'm very glad in my paranoia i made an ISO of it when i first put the disc in so i had a back-up copy when i got my new PC a couple years later.

I registered all of my blizzard games on bnet and i can DL them whenever i want to. the only other place i buy PC games is steam. I'd love to be able to do that with all of my SE games too.

This! i will be buying a PS3 copy anyway, so why not make it a CE that would be worth it.

I had an issue with my disk too. i lent my brother the disks so he could use the buddy pass, forgot about it for a long time, then i wanted to get legacy status and my old computer died so i needed to reinstall. my brother lost my disks and when i contacted SE for what i should do they said, "buy a new copy"... quite an unsatisfactory answer. i ended up finding a torrent just so i could install the game again.

i'll make a seperate post calling for a digital edition of ARR.

For PS3 marketing plan for example aside from package there are download market and thinking there are other approaches for package such as PS3 exclusive but how will you market the PS3 version?
Y: With both PS3 and PC for the package we will have the ARR FFXIV out. Of course we are thinking about ARR FFXIV specials for early reservations or collectors edition but for those with current collectors edition it will be possible to upgrade to ARR collectors edition though online update. We are currenting making adjustments.

I stumbled across this interview today and I know this is a necro-bump but I felt it would be a good idea to put it here. What this confirms is that; Yes, there will be a 2.0 Collectors Edition.

Unfortunately it leave many more questions.

for those with current collectors edition it will be possible to upgrade to ARR collectors edition though online update.

When they say "upgrade" will we need to pay extra for this? I'm fine with that, just curious.

When they say "through online update" does that mean we only get the digital features of the CE and miss out on any physical bonus stuff that others would get? (like a mug or security token) I would be more than happy to pay an extra $15 or so to get the extra physical stuff. Hopefully they will provide us with options to do any of the above options.

Can't wait for more info on what all will be included!

I actually bought the journal from the CE 1.0 on ebay so i can use it as a notebook for 2.0, and still have some nostalgia

theres still a bunch for sale.

Would be nice if they let us upgrade our game with a partial fee.

Wonder what they would put in the ce this time around. Mount seems like a good guess.

Every collector's edition is pretty much a scam. All depends on how much you love the company to give them more money.

The only players they said that will get extra consideration are currently paying customers.
