It's pretty easy to do so.

It's actually quite difficult, and efficient. You have to convert the audio file you want to use as a replacement to the correct format, and then you have to manually find the name of the file you want to replace through trial and error. It can take quite a long time. Then once you finally do swap the song the music file will not loop in game, and in addition to that none of the games audio settings work with the new file. Not to mention instances of the game crashing in lieu of this method have been reported.

Currently the only method I've found somewhat suitable is to turn the music off in game and use an audio player to play what ever you want. This has it's obvious flaws though. The music doesn't automatically change when zoning, in battle, on a chocobo, cut scene, ect. You have to actually manually change it yourself each time.
