I did notice that all of them were deep-voiced males...which IS best suited to the video. But it does also make it feel that as a female (with a rather high voice at that), I would never have stood a chance, regardless of how well I did.

Well, deep voices seem to fit overall narrative. A female voice would be pretty good if the trailer had been told from the perspective of a female character. Or as part of a compilation of quotes from different characters to represent different perspectives. Context is also important.

If there was a lot of time left for them to do so, I'd suggest that SE make a trailer from the perspective of each of the three leaders of the grand companies. Then you can get character variety and give more people the chance to share their talent.

That is a great idea. Though I honestly didn't see it from a male perspective when I was doing the trailer dubbing for my entry. I think thinking about all of us as adventurers and even then that's the vibe I got from the original trailer. Not from them showing us a image of a man but from all the adventurers point of view. They just happened to use a man to do the voice over in the original. *shrugs*

I remember one person commenting that someone's dub almost made them cry because of being close to tears. and yes it was frankly terrible. I know mine wasn't great and again I never expected to win but I did expect a variety of different people.

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't stand a chance either, as my voice is nowhere near adequate for that type of narration.

I don't do SE contests anymore because they are not very open/detailed about how they select the winners. Sorry but "Determined by our team" is not good enough for me to go out of my way to participate. The entries were amazing also btw. I especially loooove the old man one!!!

First I would like to say congrats to the winner and the runners up but to the Na team that is not devs since it wasn't done by Japan... Isn't it a bit onesided that you did not chose one woman as a winner or even as a runner up? I mean really and all of them were deep voiced. I hate to say this and I know it most likely wasn't done purposely but that seems a bit sexist.
