"100% drop rate for token", problem solved.
10 or 20 tokens for a weapon (40 for Garuda is far too much)

SE did have a better system for it:

However people would be pissed if SE used things from FFXI (even though they have been.)
I've always had mixed feelings about tokens - Id jump on this idea over the current system though.
(Mixed feelings because tokens dont feel very immersive to me - its like "obviously patch job solution token" - perhaps if he dropped "tokens" (not called token though) and they where a crafting material that you could then make a weapon with - that would seem to me like it belonged more)
Wish they could just make a smart loot system that doesn't give you a weapon you cant even hold onto. Had a friend with one weapon in his repair / bazaar thing and one in his inventory - third one dropped to him (all in our same runs against Ifrit). Seriously..?

not more immersive than killing a boss 30 times in a row
The current system is to kill time b4 2.0 pretty much
You guys are crazy, I did ifrit like 9 times without more than 1 totem and 0 weapons and I STOPPED
I liked the system of fighting the summons in FF11 every day if you wanted to. I can't see them using this for any significant content they plan on bringing out though, since they probably don't want to hand out guaranteed loot everyday and then people get bored after a couple weeks.SE did have a better system for it:

Garuda was a step in the right direction with getting totems every fight and still having a chance to get an actual item drop.
