    Unnecessary deleting of threads?

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/53865-yukes-new-race-for-ffxiv

Why was this thread deleted, instead of being locked or moved or better yet left alone? There was some legitimate discussion going on in it, and while only tenuously assciated with FFXIV did not break any rules that I know about.

Generally, I appriciate the work the GMs and moderators do on this forum, but this seems rather heavyhanded deleting topics that aren't being disruptive or causing anyone any harm, nor are doing anything previously established as against the rules (such as promoting non-Square Enix software, etc).

At a minimum, I want it undeleted and if absolutely necessary, locked, so I can at least copy-paste some of my own text from it.

If they were "heavy handed", some people would've lost their posting privilege long long ago. Personally, I'd like to see them go through and prune many more General Discussion threads. I can barely tolerate entering that stinkhole anymore. Maybe that's what the trolls want? I don't even know.

I didn't see the end of the thread's life, but perhaps something in there warranted the additional measure of thread deletion instead of locking.

There was nothing. No rude behavior, no trolling, no cursing, no offsite links, no iffy pictures, no advertising.

I had put a lot of care and attention into a post, and then the thread just vanished. Usually, if the mods consider a thread off topic or gone off track from its topic, they'll lock it with an explanation.

I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.

I wish they delete more threads, 99% are garbage. Think before you talk people.

Posters can't close their own threads.

If its not FFXIV related, SE has the right to do anything with these forums. Relax man.

I think the answer is that the person who made it was a troll. Perhaps the troll got banned and all their posts deleted? I haven't seen that troll around lately, so that would be my guess.

Hello and sorry for such a late reply.

I have gone ahead and review the entire thread and changed it so it can be viewed, once again. I am not going to open up the thread as it does speak of one of our other games, even though I know you are just talking about the race and the back history on the creatures. It is a good opinion and some careful thought was put into some of the posts, that is why I am allowing it to be viewed.

Again, I am sorry for the late review and I will discuss with my staff what happened during this case.

    Thank you,

    SGM Jhanaka
