    Block Characters from Search

Please allow players to block their characters from searches and discovery on Lodestone. There are already to many people being elitists and attacking other players because they make valid comments, just because they appear to not have logged in recently. It really is a sad state of affairs. I do not understand why this wasn't default settings as many players from XI hated when people would inspect them.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

I like that everyone's character profile is available for inspection.

Forum and Lodestone are not currently linked, it's your choice at this time to reveal your character in either your signature or some variation of your forum name.

If you wanted to ask instead that the forum and Lodestone not be linked in the future I could jump on board.

I'm reading this as if you mean people searching your character from information available on the forums so this first reply is in response to that:

It's just discrimination against the validity of peoples opinions based on a number of things. If it's not that it's the post count, or the character ranks. Everyone discriminates against one thing or another in others posts whether they realise it or not. Discrimination can be helped by hiding as much as possible on the forums, although it's impossible to wipe it out completely. Even if everything was hidden people would still discriminate against bad spelling, grammar, formatting of posts, etc.

I would like post counts to be hidden for this reason as I know I discriminate against people with large post counts. In my opinion they tend to be the ones who post the first thing that comes to their mind without properly thinking it through, meaning less valid arguements. I've also seen posts on here of people actually saying "you have a low post count so your opinion doesn't matter".

Personally, I have signatures and avatars hidden as they don't contain useful information. The less people know about the person posting the more open their mind is when reading the actual content of the posts.

Now, with regards to hiding information so people ingame can't see you... I expect most people wouldn't bother hiding their information. It is a useful tool, however I guess if people wish to hide their information then they should be allowed to do so. The history section can seem a little bit stalkerish to some people since it's like you're being watched at all times and everyone can see what you done and when you did it. A little checkbox section in the lodestone options for what information you want to be public would make a lot of sense, ie. show character profile, show blog, show history, etc. You could also go with the option of allowing viewing of information to followers only, and provide the option of manual validation of new followers of your profile/blog.

Haters gonna hate. As Gun-Anam said, everyone on a forum discriminates to some extent.

But when it comes right down to it, the only thing that matters is your opinion, and all of us have an equal right to voice our opinion. If someone resorts to using your character level or post count against you.. they lose all credibility in the argument.

I wouldn't mind the feature.. but I wouldn't use it. I already actively put forth the fact that I haven't played FFXIV in months. And I know that a large portion of forum-goers are in the same boat.

My problem is that I play like 6 characters on two accounts and I tend to give each equal time so only two have 50's on them and I don't tell people who I am on them because they are shared with a friend though I'm the one who got them to 50 we do both play them.

I'm totally not understanding how that is a problem. You don't need to prove anything to anyone one here.

If someone starts trying to say an opinion is not valid because of post count/ranks/whatever then I suggest you do what I do and block them on the forums because their arguments are clearly not worth the time it takes to read them.

This is the internet. If one person has an opinion on something you can be sure there's millions of other people with an opinion on the same thing, so don't be wasting time over one idiot with worthless opinions. That's time that could be spend considering the opinion of someone whose opinion has some worth to you. I wouldn't go into a pub and stand talking to people I don't like, so I'm surely not going to do it online where there's even more choice of people

Ah, community forums. The only place you're guaranteed to make more enemies than friends.
