No. The animations are not a dealbreaker. I'm just annoyed that people will be so accepting of a clear downgrade instead of a fix.

I really really do hope they add them in later, but I'm not going to deal with the idea that I should just keep quiet about it, and I don't think it's a good idea to launch the game in an incomplete state again.

No, that was just an example to show that not everything is set in stone, and bad decisions can be subverted as long as people speak up and tell the company what's wrong. I'm sorry, I could have been more clear about that.
