Unofficial Server Types - Are there specific servers for social, RP, English, etc.

Hi all,

I'm still new here, just wondering if I screwed up by letting my character get locked into Masamune. Actually I know things will change soon anyway with 2.0. But I'm still curious if there is a breakdown of unofficial servers based on any of the following:

-Socializing
-RolePlaying
-Hardcore
-Language/Region specific (I.e. English, German, Japanese, etc. OR North America, Europe, etc.)
- ??? <<< insert something else I didn't think of/know about here.
- profit?
- Couples and real life groups or something (like is one server filled with lots of players who play with there significant other? I doubt it, but asking anyway.)

Well I know I will be changing server to a more EU based timezone. Not that I regret not switching at server merge bcoz there are some cool people I speak to on Masamune.

But if Ragnarok still exists come 2.0......I might switch. Also it might hook me up to the EU server aswell.

Also, imagine if we have an unofficial hardcore server, and a new player who doesn't know it joins? Oh god...

Hardcore was in reference to servers where the players are noted to be elitists that often finish content first across all players/servers. On hard mode.

In other words, players whose only goal is to be the best and will spare no time for slower play-styles that feature socializing, role playing, etc. Some elitists are cool and quite intelligent and it can be fun to play with them from time-to-time, but for the most part they are jerks whom have no life and think they are the greatest thing to happen to Eorzea since it's release.

I am not trying to stereotype any server, but since others have taken to designating certain servers for specific playstyles, I would like to know what I am getting into. I certainly wouldn't mind it if all the servers had an equal helping of RolePlayers/Hardcore/Social-types, but this is hardly the case. Hence why I asked. I for one do not want to be on a server where there is a complete lack of socializing because everyone is 'playing for keeps', so-to-speak. Also, if there does appear to be a server with more couples on it, I think I'd like to at least consider it as my fiance plans on playing eventually (2.0)... assuming she will still agree to give it a go when it comes out. Some of my best times in FFXI were playing with LinkShells that were comprised of couples and friendly-types who loved helping others. I like to help people as well, and it starts with getting help so I can get to a point in the game where helping others is not only viable, but a positive success.

Sorry for causing any confusion, I certainly dislike stereotypes; however useful they may or may not be.
