Issue occured inside The Howling Eye instance during the Garuda (Hard) fight.
Party or Solo:
Party (8 members including me)
NPC Name:
None
Monster Name:
Garuda
In-Game Time:
I don't know.
Steps:
Our party had just engaged Garuda. It may have been after the first jump (can't remember exactly) when everyone in the party experienced an R0 on the network status indicator. Everything in the arena froze except your own character. We could run around, but not perform any actions, and nobody else would see you doing so. Party and Linkshell chat still worked, but we were unable to switch active linkshells.
Some people force exited the game and tried to log in, but recieved the (30002) error. Other people kept the client open and stayed in the instance for over half an hour hoping to be disconnected by the server, but that never happened. Eventually everyone force exited and has been unable to log in to their characters since, all receiving similar (30002) errors.
The people who have multiple character slots report being able to log in to other characters on the same account. Someone even tried reinstalling and repatching their game client, but the problem persists.
After selecting my character to log in, a few minutes pass on the black loading screen, followed by the error:
The long number following (30002) seems to change each time, but the error always starts with (30002) and ends with ,0,5An error has occurred on the game server.

I've submitted two support tickets regarding this issue. One, Ticket #178734 on 9/5/2012, where I initially reported the problem. I was told that it had been escalated to the developers and that I would be contacted via e-mail.
This morning, a week later, I submitted another (Ticket #1792653) to follow up on my previosu ticket. I've been assured that the issue has indeed been escalated and is being investigated despite receiving no e-mail from anyone at Square-Enix. I was also encouraged to post in the bug report forums (which I'm now doing despite the two previous attempts by other affected players being moved to Technical Support).
Acknowledgement of this issue, by a developer, would go a long way to reassuring the players currently unable to access their characters. I appreciate the efforts of the GMs and customer support agents we've all contacted (numerous times) over the past week, but they are not the ones with the ability to resolve this issue.
