Influences from FFIX

Soooo, Yoshida has decided a good idea for FFXIV would be to take some familiar kind of things from previous games in the series. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the Idea. I do think the Crystal Tower and Golden Saucer will be cool though.

That being said, since they are pulling things from previous games anyway, I would love to see them incorporate something like Summit Station from FFIX. I don't think it really needs to have anything to do with real content in the game. I just think it would be, visually, really cool to ride the cable car from the base of a Mountain to the Peak where there would be a small town-like area. Then have it Ride down the other side into an area that has a dramatically different environment from the starting side.

Of course they could implemented things built around it like having to unlock it through story progression or whatever and I definitely think there should be a dangerous walkable path through the mountains, but really I just want the visual. I think it would look really kool. That entire part of FFIX was definitely one of my Favorite in any of the series.

If there is something to take from FF9 i wouldn't think of that and i wouldn't care if they add it or not .
If there is something to take , the different castles would be a better choice.

Love the idea. I remember being awestruck playing so many FF games by environments and how realistic everything felt. I look forward to the cities feeling more alive and things like the cable car help do that.

I also think you shouldn't have to wait for an airship. Heck they are expensive as is. I'd rather one is leaving every minute and they made you wait on the flight for 2-4 minutes. With random monsters popping every once in a while or fun little quests on the airship(like a card game or something) helps immersion.

Yeah keep the airships as they are and add battles , skirmish and other fun things with airship but please don't make people travel with their own airship but reduce to 0 the time to wait for an airship if it's just to go from a city to another .

I'm not even sure where I want airships to go anymore, but I love have Really cool structures throughout the world that aren't really necessary, but they just add something memorable to the game play experience. There are very few awe inspiring things in the Current FFXIV. There is the occasional beautiful landscape, but nothing like Summit Station.

They're adding Magitek which is from FF6 and it's not a landmark, so what's your point?

To reply to the OP, things they add to the game have to have some kind of purpose, else it's hard to justify the development cost. If the only way to get from point A to point B is to take a cable car then sure that makes sense and they can do it with a little bit of style at the same time.

Mognet and materia are gameplay , crystal tower , gold saucer , magitek armors are more than that , it's part of the universe of these FF .
