    In regards to Jumping in 2.0/realm reborn

    Repost from "Other" because this subforum seems to see more use.

    Anyone else kinda feel that while it's great functionality to have jumping available in 2.0, it would be preferable not to have everyone constantly jumping all the time everywhere?

    Watching the gameplay videos that have thus far been released, every time someone jumped for no real reason other than simply for the sake of jumping it felt out of place in the general aesthetic of final fantasy games. Especially when the lalafells jumped, the relative height of their jump compared to their body height was really jarring to look at for me.

    As I said, jumping is great for functionality. However, I would like there to be a slight animation delay put in at the end of jumps. Instead of jumping while running and losing no speed compared to someone who is running without jumping, it'd be nice if you took a small hit to your momentum. Nothing major, maybe only slowing you down by a tiny fraction after a jump. But however minor, it would prevent people from jumping constantly for the sake of jumping while traveling places, and only jumping to clear obstacles that would offer shorter pathing.

    Basically, I just don't want to see constant jump spamming. A friend tells me that is what apparently happens in WoW because "you need something to do with your hands when you are bored".

    Maybe I am the only person that feels this way? What does other people think?

    i kinda miss understood that sentance for a moment.
    anyway it would be better that the jump = running speed so there is no beggy there. but adding a momentum and an animation delay no mate i quite frankly dis-agree i dont wanna hit jump button at a boss mistakenly and having an animation delay that a split of second might kill me because of that.

    but its true seeing little miqo jumping around will ignite my perverted senses.

    Also put a limit on how often your character can run around in circles.

    Also put a limit on how often you can pull out your weapon and put it away.

    Also put a limit on how often you can do the same emote over and over.

    Also put a limit on how often you can teleport.

    Also put a limit on how often you can shout the same LFG message in chat.

    Also put a limit on how often these posts are made about jumping.

    Now, I can't speak for every MMO out there that has a jump feature and yes, I've seen first hand WoW videos and being in game how people hopped around like rabbits..but from playing GW2 these last couple of days, I use the jump feature to scale objects in my way and once in awhile, I catch someone doing a jump in random..but nothing like what you're describing, nothing with people standing around just jumping for the sake of the feature being there. So honestly, I think it'll be ok. Without any additional restrictions.
