Well, isn't there something that can give that feeling without losing experience? I just don't want to lose all that hard work. Someone suggested anima, which I would hate, but suffer with better. Not having anima is a pain.Well the primary difference is truly two divergent ways of looking at death. This is highly stylized so there is a spectrum of thought and I'm just picking out two different concepts.
1. A stringent death penalty adds to the emotion of battle. The "OOOHH CRAP, a link! We gonna die! Oh crap man, oh crap, please don't let me die. I got kids, and exp. Care more about the exp though, man...phew....we lived. THAT WAS AWESOME." That feeling is not in FFXIV. It was in FFXI.
2. Death penalties are time sinks and the only penalty is a light slap on the wrist and walking back to my body. I see the logic behind this position, but it just lacks the emotion of the first view.
The bottom line is that neither position will be able to make their views palatable to the other side. Everyone ends up more entrenched in their concepts.
Also, I don't think you're a bad person Kilta
