Thread: Have fans make the trailer.

With all the hoopla over the recent trailer, I can't be the only thinking who ever is making these just isn't very good at it. With the exception of some well delivered trailers like "Limit Break" it seems sup-par trailers is a common problem for SE generally speaking.

Then I realize I seen so many fantastic video's produced by fans over the years, such as

So then the next thought was..."Why not let the fans do the trailers instead?" Think about it, they could give us loads of material to work with either provided by SE or from video recording by Beta testing players. Then hold a contest for best fan made trailers, then show off the winners through official channels! How awesome would that be?!

Just a thought.

This should be the next community event, and the winner gets shown at the next conference or trade show :<

It's a good idea, except we really don't have access to any ARR stuff to put into the video. We'd have to build a video off of 1.0 gameplay/cutscenes and the small handful of ARR stuff that's already been released to the public.

It doesn't have to be right away. We could wait till beta testing starts and let players put together their own videos. Or potentially SE could give players a library of their own footage for fans to edit as they wish.

I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar to what video your referring to. I searched the name but all I came up with was a Ifrit boss fight play through. Please feel free to post a link.

It will just be like a crappy action movie trailer.
Annoying voice over and all.

Those trailers show nothing that non-fans want to see from an MMO. Cutscenes and CGIs are not indicative of gameplay.
