I dont know any of my friends using Voice chat services for this game. They have macros set up for certain things that happen in boss fights. And dungeon runs and strategies are explained with nice pictures in blogsYou have to consider variables in parties that is one-language-only situation.
When you think of events like Garuda fights, United we Stand or To Kill a Raven, there's constant changes in strategies/ roles for players. Unless you can convince a JP party you understand your role(have more than one job) and have experience in the battle, they'll kick ya!
You might have to take into consideration that maybe JP prefer voice chat servers like Ventrilo or Team Speak when doing events. There's no other quicker form of communication than that.

My whole LS uses mumble, it makes everything so much easier, like on the fly strat changes, long events where there's just too much info to go through at the start, warning party members of things while running etc etc etc I could go on.I dont know any of my friends using Voice chat services for this game. We're talking JP friends here. And its better if you just learn what to do without every instruction being called out to you . . .

Same here. I am only in Japanese Linkshells and none of us use voice chat. We use the chat log and macros for certain events just as your friends do.I dont know any of my friends using Voice chat services for this game.
