I always felt there was a fairly equal amount of this in FFXI... but kind of new to FFXIV and it seems to be the same so far (kind of expected it though), maybe it'll be worse at 50 o.O;;

The difference is that they're asking for people who speak Japanese, you're asking for North Americans.
I hate the JP onry shit, but it's completely understandable why they do it. I tried running CC with half of the party being JP, and we had to manage with broken English/Japanese to get by. It's just unpleasant for both sides.
For stuff like hamlet, though, it seems a bit excessive.

Dammit, I keep on clicking this topic because the title is so vague that I keep on thinking it's different each time I see it.
Posting so I know I posted in here.

English is much more common in Japan than Japanese is in EN countries. I'm pretty sure JP have a much easier time joining EN parties because of this.
Also, yes the auto-translate is really bad. Before they added colors to the auto-translate, I had a world of trouble trying to ask a JP to dye my shoes for me. The auto-translate dictionary needs to be drastically expanded. Would it really be that hard to add {Dye} or {Can you dye this for me?}?

Anything that isn't pug-able, so I guess speed runs, Garuda, Rivenroad, and Ifrit Extreme, are understandable to wanting a group that all speaks the same language. But a fucking moogle run? Come on "Insert Language" Only groups, you don't need any communication beyond <t> to tell people what to do. Even if you insist on not using <t>, you can list the kill order with words in the auto-translate dictionary. It is either ignorance, laziness, or flat out racism to boot someone who doesn't understand your native language from a fight that is so simple.

Actually yeah, regional servers would fix most of this now that I think about it. I just find it odd to see someone with over 1,000 posts treating this like it's a new issue as it's over a decade old now I think. It's not that I disagree with your position.I have you know, I was on FFXI for 8 years and I've been here since the first closed beta. With that said, this is and has been a major problem. Yes, it's been going on since 11, but there has to be SOME way of stopping it. I've been reported for racism for saying "NA only" back in 11, why is saying "JP only" not reportable? Not saying I want to report people that do this, but these people need to be moved somewhere that they can be with only JPs since they obviously are discriminating against non JP players.

I think the content finder will be great for these problems.
Just look for the language you want and no shouting.
Also for those talking about Japanese being JP ONRY, you better be fair and also be mad at English speakers using mostly English in their shouts as well.

.../facepalm.
You come into a thread to defend one culture while bashing multiple others. First, NA = North America since you don't seem to understand this basic concept. In this group we have Canada, USA, and Mexico at its basics. Now if we swim across the ocean to EU which = Europe by the way, not just The United Kingdom, you will find that it has many, many more countries and not all of them speak English and are most definitely not all the exact same culture as North America.
If you want to prevent "This thread from having more sweeping generalizations of entire populations" it would benefit you to at least know slightly what the fuck you are talking about. Buy a globe. Possibly a map. Maybe search Google? They even have children's songs if reading is a bit too complicated for you. Your sig is entirely correct, plugging your ears won't change the truth, and the simple fact is every country has racists and assholes, defending one by shooting down many others obviously makes you one.

There actually shouldn't have been any difficulty in doing a moogle run with any variety of languages. The moogles names are all in auto translate. Tho auto-translate does suck at times, it works well for silly moogle fight.
Unfortunantly, it isn't always about this or that. Think what you want but for the most part, one player or group of players just dont want to play with another player or group of players for some stupid reasons, not because Auto-translate isn't good enough. Not everyone is like that, but there are too many of what I like to call 'Closet racists' all over the world in every race and culture. You cant defend any one of them, because you dont know whats really on their mind. Just gotta 'Give em the benefit of the doubt'.... If thats your thing.
It might have been because of auto-translate, because you can't speak x language, or it might have been because they just dont like you or where you're from. Wouldn't know unless they told you.
