For every JP ONRY shout there is a NA person who would do the exact same thing if they couldn't communicate with the person they are trying to pickup for a AV Speed-run.

The autotranslate is kind of inconveniencing. I can understand why people would only want to play with native speakers.
I've had Japanese players on my team before, and it's kind of awkward trying to find the right phrases to keep them in the know with strategies and such.

You must be new here. I noticed you have tons of posts though, so did you get this account from a friend???
Honestly, this stuff has been going on since FFXI. I don't see how you expect us or even SquareEnix to stop this. If that's what they wanna do, how do you intend to stop them??

I have you know, I was on FFXI for 8 years and I've been here since the first closed beta. With that said, this is and has been a major problem. Yes, it's been going on since 11, but there has to be SOME way of stopping it. I've been reported for racism for saying "NA only" back in 11, why is saying "JP only" not reportable? Not saying I want to report people that do this, but these people need to be moved somewhere that they can be with only JPs since they obviously are discriminating against non JP players. You must be new here. Healer strike is ridiculously foolish and accomplishes nothing

I remember my friend in ffxi would get on bard and put na only in his seacom and got reported for racism...lol seems legit.
I've never been kicked from a pt before but wow that's rude![]()

I've had this happen to me when playing XI. They used auto-translate for the pug shout, never requested JP players, and when I join, they ask if I speak Japanese, I say no, and then I get the boot without an explanation or apology. And it was just a grind pt. :/

Local servers will hopefully cure MOST of this, as I'm assuming most NA players will go with NA servers (I know I will), and therefore avoid the racism. And JP can feel free to be racist on their JP servers where hardly any NA will play.

IIRC, it's been like this from the start of XIV because the JP basically had it with us after XI.
Plus, they like to chat a lot during parties (don't most people?) and well, unless you speak the language, it's pretty hard to converse back & forth.
This thread needs more sweeping generalizations of entire populations.
In my experiences, I've avoided trying to insert myself into JP ONRY kinds of things, but I have ended up in JP parties before, usually ones where they needed me to rep someone out. They were pretty courteous to use auto-translate, or even some English, and I half-assed my best japanese phrases I could muster in english since I can't type kanji worth a damn. We would have a grand time (what I could understand anyway, I hope the 'wwwwwww' weren't all directed at me...). Point is not all JP are bad people.
I wouldn't be pissed off about JP players shouting with "JP Only". Communication is key in an MMO, after all, and they have a right to want to communicate with everyone in order to have a successful party.
However, English speaking (and spanish, and german, etc etc) have just as much right to make the same claim in shouts, I think. I'm really pissed to hear about GMs favoring JP players in charges of racism.
That shit is just stupid.
