There is 0 chance that you only need to stand next to the enemy. More than likely, your chance of getting the drop is based of the amount of enmity you obtain. Even if the requirement is just get any enmity at all.If this is true (that you merely have to be in proximity and *not* get claim and *not* get killing shot), it seems a bit odd / unfair for those parties that actually spent the majority of their efforts getting the NMs down to 1% health (or killing it).
If what you're saying is true (just be in proximity), it's kinda sad when you have a Party that works on killing 99% of the Mobs (or heck, even doing 100% of the work), and you can just stand there and have a chance at the drop.
(or if you have to damage it a bit, the fact that you can let some other party do 99% of the work and you go in and just take a couple swings and hope for a roll feels... odd / unfair / not really rewarding teamwork (just loot stealing in a way).)
It's Called Open-Tapping.
