I went to do WHM AF quest over at Turning Leaf; the imperial theme was playing both at Crimson Bark and Turning Leaf as well. I did not go looking for imperials though.
GLD is not GLA! But apparently, it IS GSM!

Saw the level 50 mobs while helping people for AF quests and after I sat around for almost an hour killing them before they despawned. Never bumped into any elites but everything I killed dropped absolutely nothing. Don't want to whine about it but they don't even drop money/crystals which makes it hugely disappointing as far as events go.
Any news on a set schedule for re-appearances?
I see, thank you!

Joining the dots here, I suspect the imperials are hunting the primals.
Dragonhead: Garuda's domain
Iron Lake: Titan's domain
Broken Water: Ifrit's domain
Crimson Bark: Good King Moggle Mog XII's domain

From what I've seen (and this is only speculation) the Tricorn drops from the DoW mobs and the Hat drops from the DoM mobs and the H1 can drop both. I got my Tricorn from a DoW mob and I saw someone get a Hat from a DoM mob (those that link with the H1, the normal mobs do not drop anything).
Also, the best way I've found to do this is to make them return constantly and spam Fire spells. I did it with 3, 1 Brd pulling 1 Blm nuking, 1 Whm buffing, raising, nuking but if you're going in with a full PT I would say 1 tank pulls 2 Whm's buff and raise and the rest Blm spamming fire. The mages can safely cast at the return line and almost not get hit.
I also think this is very likely and I was thinking the same thing.
