Sorry, no. Did the event the full 8 hours it was up on the first day, of the 7 hats that dropped to people in my party, all of them came from when my party had claim on the dead elites. And when the other party that was with us got drops, it was when they had claim. If it was purely participation based, I would've gotten a drop after 8 hours and 4 sets of completely broken armor.

GW events are not really random , you have to wait something like 3 hours between the map major event and other events start at worse 30 mn after they ended .

It's quite possible it's not working as intended. Maybe it was supposed to have set times of occurrence but they messed up the code so it only happened the 1(?) time.

nope, I fought them during two distinct spawns. Both were on the same day. However, I haven't seen them since.

They've spawned 3 times since the event began. However if SE could give us any word on it, it could easily clear up the wild speculation going on and allow a lot of us to get some sleep.
