    Monsters now...monsters in ARR (Discussion)

    I know that everyone is itching about the possibilities of combat in ARR, but I don't know if anyone is interested in which monster species will be added. It's a given that most or nearly all current monsters in FFXIV will be in ARR. But could the development team add monsters from past Final Fantasy games into this one, since Yoshi-P has stated that this game is more of a fan-service? We know that our little Mandragora friends will be in this game, but what others will make a comeback? I hope that some more monsters from FFXI do come back, because FFXI was my first mainstream Final Fantasy game. I haven't played any past games of Final Fantasy, so I don't know what/which monsters could be coming back.

    So, what is everyone's thoughts? What monsters would you like there to be in ARR? I've talked to my LS on FFXIV about saying, "Well, they brought back Goblins in this game as a passive beastman. I'd like to see the 3 main beastmen, Yagudo/Orc/Quadav, come back as well as passive/aggressive beastmen that want to combat the Ixal, Kobold, Amalj'aa for resources since I've seen similarities between the 6." Yagudo = Ixal, Kobold = Quadav, Amalj'aa = Orc.

    I think this highlights the exact reason why beastmen like the Yagudo should not appear in XIV. We already have their Eorzean equivalents in game. It would be redundant, in my opinion.

    XIV beastmen are cooler than XI beastmen anyway :P

    There is one staple Final Fantasy monster race I would like to see...

    Tonberries.

    Seeing some Wyvren type mobs again would be cool... It would be neat to see some larger mobs roaming around to kill

    I hope it's not all recycled stuff as that seems a bit cheap.

    They should develop more XIV specific beast tribes and give them deeper hierarchy and variety along with a whole lot more character.

    XI tribes all had their own architecture styles and a lot of cutscene and story-based questing. The tribes also need distinct characters to make us care about the situation and cutscenes to showcase those moments.

    I know I've mentioned cutscenes many times by now but in comparison to other FF titles I really think they should put more effort to presentation of the story.

    Sure you can slap an epic amount of flavour text somewhere but unless it's not woven into the gameplay and goals of the player he will not care.

    Back to enemies:

    From the early days of FF I think they could do a redesign of Zu's. I especially thought they were interesting in massive scale in X. Also there seems to be a lack if variety in flying enemies.
