I absolutely abhor gear score. It leads to people being unfairly excluded from events and guilds. It was part of the reason I quit WoW. I had gotten into the game more (Mostly for the PvP) but I decided that I wanted to do dungeons. Every guild I tried to join wouldn't let me because my gear score wasn't up to their standard.

In other words: To get better gear, I needed to do dungeons. In order to be able to do dungeons, I needed better gear. It's the biggest catch 22 there ever was.

Right now, stuff like that doesn't happen much. Hard Garuda and Rivenroad are difficult fights and those two, groups understandably have some standards- but the vast majority of this game doesn't require the best of the best gear to complete.
