If I get into the Alpha/Beta this will be one of the issues I'll be extremly critical on. Gearscore enforces trivialized gear sets instead of letting people be creative with the stats they want to roll with.

I'd rather not enforce cookie cutter builds anymore than the community does as it is.

But a BLM going I focused on STR and VIT cause I wanna be different really is a liability.

You do realize some gearscore system is needed to gate the dungeon/raid finder. Because someone with very bad gear missing stuff queuing up and then bringing their whole group down because they don't have adequate gear for the dungeon they want to run. That would just ruin the whole run for everyone that queued up.

Then perhaps the game shouldn't be designed around playing with totally random strangers from different servers outside of your own control.

"Queing up" for content just isn't really in my priority list for what I want to see in 2.0, Gearscore does nothing but sound alarm bells about other thing the devs may be planning such as out-dating gear weeks after it was introduced. Begining a unstopable spiral into power-creep that can't be stopped and eventually implodes on itself. WoW has struggled with this issue for years and I doubt SE will get the same grace that WoW gets with it's players.

I find it hilariously ironic people shit on XI's itemization yet Gearscore is essentially the same damn thing, people are expecting players to have adequate if not BiS gear or even situational gear when going through the content finder, which is exactly what you did in XI, you got the BiS gear even if it's something that lasted for years, you had the BiS.

So essentially, all it's for is a system that shouldn't even be implemented and just let servers sort themselves out, rather than having to cross-server and be determined by your number rather than skill, because I can safely say most people who play XIV now don't know how to play, hell most players still doesn't realize you can revive players with an item which can help you recover from an unfortunate wipe.
