Thread: Continuing 1.23 until 2.0's launch.

It would take <1% of just v1.0's staff to simply maintain the servers. 2.0 does have its own staff if you didnt already know, it has for a long time. when 2.0 starts, the 2 staffs combine and becomes even bigger. NOTHING is being wasted anywhere, 2.0 has its own staff building it. no lost reasorces. no blisful ignorance, just truth.

They already stated they're bringing both teams together once 1.0 goes offline, yes that is well known. Yet people would want them to keep 1.0 up, so even having no development done on it is still a waste of resources by having the servers online, especially because of the fact it's just here to be here to give people a place to chat basically, a waste of space.

Yes it takes "that one person to make sure it stays up"..do you think that one person will be paying the bills for the server upkeep of a game that shouldn't even be online?

So then do you consider it to have been a waste of resourses to keep the servers alive for 1.5yrs while they revamp everything, since no bills were getting payed in that time frame.

Dread to think what would have become of FFXIV had they done this poll back then.

it wasnt ? From a business model, it's a loss without any entrace. Would be strange otherwise

They were still developing for 1.x FFXIV as well as rebuilding it for ARR as well as charging people for it (In Jan) so they were even more obligated to develop for it. The difference between then and after they go offline for the purpose of moving onto ARR, is bringing back 1.0 after everything is all said and done is a waste of resources when they already stated once 1.0 goes off, ARR beta goes up, which means they've completely moved on at that point.

Keeping 1.0 around at that time is a waste of time and resources. You can argue semantics and say the very fact you're posting on their forums is a waste of their resources, but you can't ignore the fact there's truthfully no reason to bring 1.0 back online at that point beyond pretty much what even SE stated, just to give people a chatroom basically since nothing you do will matter.

Why would anyone vote no? Seems pretty selfish. You're not going to be playing, so you'll ruin it for people who want to stick around for socializing? Cool, thanks.
