That might be part of the reason. It's one thing if we never had it, taking it away is worse.

If they forgot 1.0 even existed. I wonder how the comments would be in terms of "What the Quality truly is" and not " They took this away from FFXIV now its going to fail" type attitude.
I'd be still concerned about the current quality, but 1.0 being non existent, and the whole epic fail at launch being non existent, I'd probably wait till beta.

In our current situation though, I'm being overcautious, simply because I was disappointed badly already. They don't have my trust back yet.

    Hello all,

Seems like the thread has degenerated a bit and so I have to ask for people to stay focused on the discussion and not to engage in personal attacks on one another. This is a really big thread with a lot of great content, and I don't want to have to lock it, so help me out on this one. Let's stick to the topic and keep it civilized, please.

    Thank You,

Verytus, and other moderators that might read this, is it possible to change the title of the thread as seen in the general discussion forum to something more specific like "Movement Animation Downgrade in ARR" ? This might help reducing the hostility, since the current one implies ARR as a whole is a downgrade. I apologise for that, and i want to change it.

After going about my business yesterday and taking the time to read every post since I posted, I sort of get why Nemy is so upset, and the others. Those animations were really interesting and did provide a nice, albeit very first world, touch.

The following is purely a question and not meant to be some sarcastic question. I heard somewhere that the way we move our characters is changing in 2.0. I saw Yoshi strafing more, wouldn't that mean that the quick turn to run animation wouldn't ever need to be used? The turning animations should definitely be in the game however, there isn't much reason for those to not be in there, and i do have confidence that SE (who are are in love with having great graphics) would put at least those in.

EDIT: I see that this is in fact the case and I still see where people want the animations, but I also get their removal. The stopping seems like a good thing to put in if its not... but I will say the stopping does feel awkward to me in current version, while it looks nice, I feel like I have to predict the slowdown of my character and stop prior to the end point. (which is totally logical) Meaning I have to release the key before the point which I want to stop, which i'm used to now, but would be an annoying thing for a new player.

I still think most users who haven't played FFXIV 1.0 wouldn't complain about it. I feel like we complain because we've been a bit spoiled by it. For a time the game used to be nothing but its great animations. (or so it seemed) I hope SE can find a way to please everyone, but in my experience in life, that just won't happen.

I do agree that we been spoiled to the point where if 2.0 has something missing all hell will break loose :P. If 2.0 was the Original FFXIV, would we still be here complaints about the animations? That remains a mystery :P.

Maybe the only way to maintain sanity is to really and literally forget EVERYTHING in 1.0. Forget it ever happened and treat ARR as a completely new game. I think that's what S.E. wants from us anyway. OR at least that's seemingly what they're trying to pull off.

If everyone were to treat this game as a "Brand New game w/ perks", then I could even be agreeing with some of these concerns. But I just feel that, some of these concerns are brought up because 2.0 is taking away from 1.0. If they forgot 1.0 even existed. I wonder how the comments would be in terms of "What the Quality truly is" and not " They took this away from FFXIV now its going to fail" type attitude.

Upset is an accurate word. I don't think anyone in here is raging or blaming or bitching and moaning. Those are words used by those that are in need to create drama, instead of making a civilised response like yours. So thank you for this.

Hmmm, that might be due to high ping with the server.

If you want to find out, follow the steps.

-Run the game in window mode, so that you can alt-tab
-While the game is running, open up "Resource Monitor" (You can easily find it by typing "resource" in the search, on your Start panel.
    -Go to the "Network" tab
-Find FFXIV, and look up the Address (This is the IP of your server)
-Open your Start panel again, and type in the search "cmd" and enter. This will open the Command Prompt.
-In the Command Prompt, simply type "ping 00.000.000.00" (meaning ping, space, and then the IP of your server)
    -Press Enter.

What we're looking for, is the "time= ???ms"

This is your ping. If it is around 150-300, it might cause what you're describing.

Also note : Even if your ping is low, in situations where other people are around, or in certain areas or events, (ifrit) you can experience unresponsiveness.

(I'm sorry if i was over-analytical or if you already knew all of this, but some people may don't.)
