Getting rid of the "Current" animations, yes Does that mean there won't be any animation at all for these? No not by a long shot. If there was no animation, then they would sit there and do nothing at all. There will be animations, Those animations are not the Alpha/beta/retail product of the game. as I said before several times, they didn't even want to show us the "Pre-alpha" state of the game "because" it wasn't ready to be shown in the first place. Yet people wanted so badly that they just gave in, and now these types of comments are spawning all over the place because they gave into the pressure.

Now I'm not saying everyone doesn't have the right to speak their minds on what they saw, because everyone does have a right, as long as you know that they didn't want to show it in the first place and all this back and forth arguments was the cause of the "Squeaky wheel" (Us Customers), Then by all means argue away. This is still considered feedback in all way for them, and it will help out in the long run. Everyone needs to stops saying "this is SE fault that they did this this or this" when then wanted to keep it to themselves till the time was right (Late alpha/Early beta I'd imagine).

Edit: I just want to point out that, Alot of things "Can be missing" from what they shown because this is "Pre-Alpha", but they will probably "Actually" be in there, come beta/retail. If your in Alpha and its not there? Make it known that its not that, Not their in Beta? Make it known it's not there.

Starlord, it's one thing to say the animations are going to be replaced and completely another one to say they are getting removed.

You just assume it is going to be the case, because it makes sense, but it doesn't mean it will if you look at 1.0.

But even if you look at things like the knock back animation, or lalafell walking, it clearly is unnatural and jerky. So it's not about them adding them later, it's about present, new animations being inferior to what we already have.

Whether an animation is long or short doesn't matter. If you sacrifice aesthetics completely, the gameplay will look weird.

I understand completely, that the 1.0 animations won't be there in 2.0. but to say there "won't" be any animations at all is kinda weird. If X person uses Chaos Thrust ( 2.0 style that is), and it didn't have zero animation, it would just still there. "Starlord uses Chaos Thrust!" Me: wait.. wheres is the animation.. uh.... @.@.

Those animations your talking about are very valid, and I'm sure they will take that into account will making the finishing touches of the Alpha build. When I see Dragonfire Dive, There is animations you can't sit there and tell me there isn't any because there is. But does that mean the animation itself looks weird? Yeah it does look weird actually, but this is a "pre-alpha build mind you, and in the Special talk show they said " They still had a lot of polishing up to do on all areas, so those animations made for 2.0 are far from complete since we have Oct/Nov/Dec and maybe Jan to get those Animations in there.

At this point the game is completed (assuming) and there at the point where they are getting all the Animations right( Walking/Running/jumping/Weaponskills etc), and making sure the Servers aren't going to explode like the first time XD. (that will come when they test the servers in the Alpha/Beta ^.^). I'm sure at this point, they are running around like headless chickens getting everything prepared for the Alpha/Beta//Launch of the game, I'm sure almost all of them are worried what the response is going to be like from the crowd.

I do think this thread does give them A lot of feedback that I give Credit to Nemy for regardless what build it was from. but all this brewed from people wanting a Gameplay video that wasn't ment to be shown. but in the end, I do believe that this thread alone will help them on the right track in the animation dept.

(I'm not talking directly to him since he blacklisted me because he couldn't prove the lies he said about me)

Does he imply that SE will replace the missing animations with... different animations?

Can someone confirm that? Does he really believe that makes any sense... at all?

Go watch the live letter III video carefuly and you will notice many ppl walking and running around Yoshi-P and you can see characters have all current movements except the sluggish stop/start and thats a pre-alpha test when ppl jump and land theres a inertia effect animation same with chocobos all the details are there you just refuse to see them and choose to bitch and moan

    - Inertia as you stop = missing

    - Gaining momentum as you start = missing

    - Leaning as you turn = missing

    - The whole animation as you turn more than 90 degrees = missing

    - Backpedaling = bad

Only 1 little page back, there's the answer to your post.

What you call "sluggish start/stop", was the characters being subject to inertia. That was not "sluggish" by any stretch of the imagination, but the highest level of movement animation ever to be seen in an MMO. Some people value that apparently, so we ask for it, not to go away.
