They still do have a little half-step in there but because of how quick it is you often don't see it.

I just don't see this as much of a deal breaker. Watching the video I still feel as immersed as I ever have watching anything with FFXIV. I didn't even notice the lack of this animation until it was pointed out, even though I watched every video we've got for 2.0.

The animations in 1.0 are a bit longer but I really don't see why this warrants a 600+ post discussion with people raging fairly hard over the dev's decision. Maybe it's just me though but I don't see it.
What Nemy said. You simply value different parts of the game differently. For me, I think of Llen moving in that janky way, possibly losing the ability to track things with her eyes. Maybe she loses the smooth catlike running she has, or the seriously over-done hip swing of her walk. Maybe sitting down or getting back up isn't done as smoothly. What I see when I picture those things is a loss of a connection from myself to my character.

That extends to other player characters too. If they feel alive, I can more easily see them as real people, and I can connect with them better. For people like me, it's the little things that all add up to making the game, and your character, feel really alive.

In any case, I'm glad your excitement hasn't been hampered by Rukirii's post. I was champing at the bit for 2.0 until today. Now... I desperately need to play it, but only to make sure that my Llen is still the Llen I know and love.

Totally just disqualified myself for alpha access xD
