did you just think what i was thinking XD we both posted the same video at the same time /funYour right the gamescon 2012 footage is indeed Pre-Alpha, the footage in the video below is also Pre-Alpha but its from Gamescon 2009 and one of the first ffxiv gameplay footage released; differences is, animation is included in the original version of Pre-Aplha footage.

The fact of the matter, in the ARR footage the animation is excluded and no one but SE knows why, assuming it will be added in later is a mistake. You don't know if it will or if it was cut out completely, as others have stated already, putting it off is a bad idea, we can only make assumptions based on the information we have now. Less then 2 months away before 1.0 servers go down and we still hardly have any information.
What makes u think they are not taking feedback already? if i remember right, Dev posts usually end with them asking us to continuing discussing issues and features we would like to see. Doubt their referring to the current version of the game which has no more big patches left.
I think that at least a response from the devs confirming whether or not it is or isn't excluded (along with reasons why) is all that is warranted. And if enough of the community cares, would it be possible to add it back in during official alpha/beta periods?Your right the gamescon 2012 footage is indeed Pre-Alpha, the footage in the video below is also Pre-Alpha but its from Gamescon 2009 and one of the first ffxiv gameplay footage released; differences is, animation is included in the original version of Pre-Aplha footage.

I was referring to Alpha when I said they weren't accepting feedback yet. I don't have enough information to form an opinion yet with movement quality. Unless I have a controller in my hands, I'm just not willing to make any judgements about it.The fact of the matter, in the ARR footage the animation is excluded and no one but SE knows why, assuming it will be added in later is a mistake. However, I will judge based on the rampant trolling about graphical quality based on second-hand footage off gamescom that people who are complaining about it are probably just complaining for the heck of it.
Grass post.
^^, the pre-alpha excuse made me think of that video, i remember how amazed i was 3 years ago when i saw the level of quality in the animation even though it was still pre-alpha.
Realistically speaking, i think chance of it getting added in beta is low, beta versions are usually near completion and were talking about some of the basic features here, such as animation during moving and stuff. While im not a professional in the field, i would assume its hard to make such changes to a near complete game.
Then the window is small if they are going to add it back in at this point. My only hope is that they were so human that they simply forgot to turn on the physics option in settings; or even opted to keep it off for some odd reason. Either way, it will obviously be a great game, but sorely missed in the animation quality department. An explanation from one of the devs would still be welcome as I'm curious as to why it would be subtracted from a game of such high-caliber graphics if it comes to that.Realistically speaking, i think chance of it getting added in beta is low, beta versions are usually near completion and were talking about some of the basic features here, such as animation during moving and stuff. Now that we've become friends, the only complainer here is you. Complaining about the complainers. OPEN. YOUR. EYES.
I too was referring to Alpha when i replied, pretty sure they are not referring to the current version of the game when they ask us for opinions and suggestions. There is no final version of 2.0 since its still in Alpha, i dont see an issue with making suggestions based on footage of the Alpha version.I was referring to Alpha when I said they weren't accepting feedback yet. I Agree, there are a lot of troll threads such as the grass issue but i honestly don't consider the OP a troll, i think the question and issue is a reasonable concern. When i first saw the ARR footage, i also noticed the downgrade in animation and its nice to see other people have similar concerns.
Your right there is not enough information but there is some and based on what little information we have, the animation is currently not in ARR Alpha. Whether this is because its Alpha or because it was taken out completely is the question and that's what i think OP wants to know, all it takes is one small Dev reply, the fact we have not heard anything in return has me concerned a bit.
I really hope they add the animations back. More dynamic battle doesn't mean unrealistic movements. Realistic movement should be part of the strategy to consider when you execute your commands. I hope it won't become like every other RPGs, which just blatantly ignore any transitional animations.
It doesn't even have to be the same animations directly lifted from FFXIV 1.xx, but some new subtle transitional animations unique to ARR would be good too. Something with a sense of timing that works well with the new engine.
