I agree there needs to be a mix between Unique and Standard, Balance is the key to everything, even conflicting arguments have to reach a medium. It has to be a great mix of standard and unique, obviously the proper balance and what those exact things are is going to vary from person to person.
But that's why we are all here to speak our mind on what we think would make 2.0 go above and beyond the MMO standard and become something great.

i agree and i think this thread shows that the animations have to stay.It has to be a great mix of standard and unique, obviously the proper balance and what those exact things are is going to vary from person to person.

i havent heard a single person say they hated the polish animations and their happy there gone for the sake of visuals
i've heard people say if they had to choose between gameplay and animations that gameplay wins, ive heard that they can live with cutting these animations for the sake of gameplay but since animations doesnt actually affect gameplay, i think its safe to say everyone wants them back
if there is anyone here who can honestly say they want the animations to stay cut from the game even knowing that it DOES NOT, at all, 0% affect the gameplay/ reaction time/ casting time/ action time/ movement time or anything else, then i think i can confirm that that person likes crappy games
none of us want this game to be crappy, visually, aesthetically, technically, or in any way.
so SE make the right decision, we stuck with you through thick and thin, we all want you to succeed, you said you would need the communities feedback if you were to make this rebirth possible, we're giving you the feedback, listen to your fans, dont let us down

Well stated, my friend.
If the Animation has Animation Lock, then yes it "can" effect gameplay. Hardcores won't see this as an issue, but Casuals may have an issue with it. When your doing a Animation lock thats 2-3 seconds long and facing Bosses like Ifrit, even a Good player has to get the "timing" down and knowing when to use it. So when you put it in that aspect, Yes Animation does effect gameplay. If there's no Animation Lock, then it has no effect on gameplay.

if done correctly, animations can and should be able to be canceled with no effort, just by doing something else. if you start doing that polish stop running animation and you click to use an action, that polish animation will stop and execute the action. that same concept eliminates animation lock and im sure thats one of the big reasons why they rebuilt the game engine so im sure its possible. since this is the case, animations will not affect gameplay at all.If the Animation has Animation Lock, then yes it "can" effect gameplay. but if for some strange and horrible reason, they rebuilt the engine and didnt make canceling animations possible to eliminate animation lock then yes gameplay over animations.
Lets see what the gw2 community says about, what I like to call the treadmill effect. Which will be in 2.0 you can clearly see it in the videos. https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/foru...rst#post133827
That was a really creative idea.Lets see what the gw2 community says about, what I like to call the treadmill effect. Which will be in 2.0 you can clearly see it in the videos. https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/foru...rst#post133827
Why people call you a troll, is beyond me.

Seriously, do you do anything but complain about everything? How did you get into gaming in the first place, because what you're talking about is quite apparent in a LOT of video games. How it factors into the fun factor at all is beyond me.Lets see what the gw2 community says about, what I like to call the treadmill effect. How realism and believable movement factors into the fun factor of a video game is really.., beyond you?
