Amazing engine.Cant find the video I wanted to link but here is Unity and work with animations (blending and modification of preexisting animations): http://video.unity3d.com/video/69422...aJkT%2Fg%3D%3D
Also talks a lot about stuff unrelated.. so.. yeah.. lol
When one animation is in process and another one is needed to be run the two animations would blend together creating a step between the two animations. Like creating a look animation, a run animation and then letting the computer create the look while running animation without needing to separate the top and bottom half into different entities.
As i stated before, FFXIV needs to be visually future-proof, and if that is the future, they better add those running animations back.

the running animations are the less important thing.. its good enough like it is now.
But some textures (ground textures in gridania for example) are a small downgrade for example. and some objects dont have that many polygones like before (rocks, trees etc.)
oh man and why you didnt let rot that thread ? why did you bump it then? ;X *sigh

Three month old necropost?
In fact, it was brought back from the ashes in the three-month anniversary of it's death, that's something.
It looked that way to me, too. But then, I'm seeing it in a compressed YouTube video. How it looks there, and how it will look in full-res on my computer may be two different things.
I'm just glad to see the trees finally casting proper shadows.
Seems to be happening a lot today...

I remember reading this thread. I'm still horrified at the small cuts that are being made to the game. The motion blending was one of my favorite parts about 1.0.
Hm. Hm.
But I stand by my theory that it's being done to allow the game to run on the PS3. Friggin' consoles...
But that doesn't mean SE won't do the right thing and release a high-res texture pack for PC. They've already said they plan to explore the possibility of releasing an SDK, so even if they don't, maybe someone else will.
The bottom line is the engine itself looks solid. Poly counts and texture resolutions are easy as long as the engine is good.

The hacker/maker crowd will definitely deliver on the SDK end.Hm. Hm.

I really liked the animations from 1.0 but if they've been changed/removed for ARR I'm sure the devs have a valid reason to do so. If there is a way to include them for ARR without jeopardising the gameplay (lag, animation lock) then I'm all for it.
