    auto lot system

After an incident the other night I decided to see what people opinions on this was. Since the game auto lots and places items into peoples loot I wanted to know if...

    A) What drops in your loot is yours?

    or

    B) what drops in your loot needs to be re-lotted on?

    or

    C) Predefined rules should be laid out before entering an instance, since it can't be assumed that everyone has the same rules?

I had always played by the rules that after a chest is opened, where the items fall are the property of the loot list they fall in unless you don't want it.

    That is all

There is no set rule and everyone has their opinion.

Most the time in pugs I assume if it drops to me its mine. If something drops to me and I don't want it and it might be an upgrade I offer it, if something drops I want I ask but never assume.

I always ask how we are handling loot when joining a pug. Much drama can be avoided by asking before something valuable drops.

Option B is rather silly in my opinion. The game already rolled the dice to decide who it goes to, you'd just be re-rolling.

The only time I'd /random for something is if the person who got it doesn't want it.

I would prefer if they change it and make a loot for the party, that way if something drop can be lotted for everyone that wanted and higher get it, more or less like ffxi but beware of the ninja lot people

I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.

Depends in LS parties we re roll on everything by our priorities, as this is the rules set up. But in a pick up I would also generally expect a what falls in your inventory is yours unless previously stated.

The correct answer is C. Different groups have different rules to try and keep things fair. Some endgame shells use point systems, which impact if you're eligible for an item at all, or may possibly have an impact on your chances. This helps ensure that people don't just be total lootwhores and take everything. At other times, you might be doing an event where you're trying to get everyone an equal share of something, like running dungeons for items to trade in for seals. You want everyone to get something out of the event, so it has a rule of passing items to folks who haven't gotten one yet.

And these are just rules I've run across myself. While the "Let it fall where it falls" works ok for random loot like when you're partying, for endgame events people usually want more structure so someone who deserves the item gets it.

    Do C, if C hasn't happened do A, Screw B.

A - Don't do item rot (let it be wasted by dropping to you when you can't trade it later (and don't need it)). For example if you already did your relic quest and you don't need anymore seals don't be a jerk and say 2 mil or rot. This is where you can do a "sort" of B and have a relot that excludes your self.

B - makes no sense - even if agreed upon earlier. The game lotted for everyone in the first place, if you didnt win the item dont cry and ask for a relot.

Always try to do C though, because someone will always bitch and try for B. Also there are a lot of systems you can do with C that are more fair then A.
